Apple game console: the Apple PiP!n?

Hey all, wanted to share a new find (even though many of you may already know about this bit of history i am about to share). As I was an avid gaming fan in the 1990's, I am blown away I have never seen.. or heard of.. the Apple Pippin.. before....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Pippin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0yVcF0ysBs (great video by our own Adam Koralik)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zmub4R1bGE

Online and VGA ready straight out of the box... in 1996? I'm now doubting that the Dreamcast was ahead of its time ;)

This looks like a revolutionary console. SEGA sure took some notes on this one.. I'm going to buy myself an Apple Pippin.

Wanted to buy it too ages ago, thing is, it only has a handful of games (50 or so) and half of those are shit, they also often cost €200 for one game. So it's gonna be an expensive hobby. On the bright side: it is one of the easiest consoles to get a full set for, as it has so few games...

A quick search with one auction site shows several available at great prices. Not sure why you're wishing me luck on this one..

@Mayu, what swayed you in to not buying this console?

The reason it has VGA and a modem is because it's basically a Mac with some slight changes to turn it into a game console. There were only 18 "games" released in the US and most of them aren't even games. It's mostly educational software. I wouldn't spend a dime on it personally.
PSO Characters:
Teal'c - lvl 119 HUcast - GC# 11666
Alto - lvl 39 FOnewm - GC# 12964

I understand it's not the best value for any budget. However, The Pippin will likely only appreciate. If it depreciates, it wont be by a large factor. When it comes time to sell i think ill do ok. ;)

From what I've been told the nstc and pal versions are super rare, so if you see it for cheap I'm assuming its a japanese "Bandai" PiP!n.

Right, I keep forgetting a lot of the older consoles are like that.
