I love this game & I know exactly what you mean, it indeed has a Progear vibe going on. I have the 360 version, and don't laugh, but it is amazing via RGB on a CRTVgesoterica wrote:

Finally had time to do a quick run of the latest AsteBros demo for the Mega Drive and I must say it is pretty amazing even in its unfinished form. This is gonna have a ton of replay value with its random dungeons, items, weapons and more. It also plays super smooth, I’ve been at it for a few hours now, and have yet to encounter a bug. Soundtrack is pretty good too, a must own imho…
