COLLECTORS: VMU Data Mining

There is actually a bunch of Dreamcast DLC that is extinct anywhere archived on the internet

An idea that I've had that I don't have the money for is VMU data mining

Essentially, if you're a collector, buy bulk wholesale **Used** VMUs, then dump all the data onto the internet. Re-sell if you want

The other purpose of this thread is to research and identify extinct Dreamcast DLC

Identified so far:
(this will be updated)

- Daytona USA 2001 Online Access Keys --- Found

- Sega Marine Fishing DLC/Event files

- Sega GT Event Files

- Shenmue

"VMU Icons? Sega Classic Games?"

- Crazy Taxi 2
Around Apple: Another Day
Around Apple: Cheerleaders
Small Apple: Another Day
Small Apple: All Mimes

- Flogian Bros
7 monthly items

- Metropolis Street Racer
"Challenges"

- Street Fighter Alpha 3

- 4x4 Evolution

- Sakura Taisen 3

- Jet Grind Radio
User Generated Decals

- F355 Challenge
"Professional ghost car data. Might've been Japan only."

- Eve Zero - Ark Of The Matter
"Beam Force" minigame

There is probably more not identified

----------------------------------

Anyone who wants to participate in this idea, I will setup personal VMU upload directories on Dreampipe, with FTP access to create new directories for each VMU you data mine

This could not only lead to the complete archive of all Dreamcast DLC, but allow the restoration of more online features other than just multiplayer servers. As well as creating entirely new DLC

Yes! Love this idea. Good luck!

There used to be a website dcdlc.com but it appears the account has been suspended. Here's an archived version -

You can cross that Daytona USA key file off the list. ;-)

http://www.dreamcastlive.net/files/arch ... SA_Key.zip

Big thanks to Phillip/goodcow who archived the file back in 2001 and has kept it ever since. :)

Shame to hear DLCDC has gone down. Hopefully people managed to grab the Crazy Taxi 2 DLC as they are difficult to find.

Only the VMI files are archived. All they do is point the Dreamcast to the actual VMS file which isn't archived. :(
