so I finally had time to play it today so here's my 2 cents:

it's far too easy & very unbalanced. I finished the entire game on my first try, only dying twice...then comes the new stage Dark Matters; they made this extremely hard compared to the rest of the game.They literally threw in so much shit you can barely avoid anything; almost makes me wanna play last hope... I lost all my (7 or 8) lives in under 2 minutes & got to the game over screen; I tried continue & it makes you start the final stage again...with NO weapons so you die over & over again the first minute in the game. You get a new pod if you're lucky enough to make it to the half of the stage & then if you're able to pick it up (with all the shit it throws at you), you might make it to the boss...but then...

so I made it to the final boss the second time I tried the game. got there just barely with a small pod & no rockets; then the boss throws 10 times more at you than any other boss & you die ...

now for me personally this isn't a bad thing since I love a challenge, but I think it'll scare many people off since the last stage is just too hard compared to the rest of the game. the low res I read about is very doable imo, could be a little better but it really doesn't bother.

I'll prolly finish the game after playing it 2 or 3 times more, will let you guys know when I do so. won't be today though... :lol:

edit: couldn't resist & just gave it another try; this time I finished it...so that makes it 3 times...

oh yes; I forgot to mention; those of you who ordered the steel case will prolly be disappointed by its quality & chances are it'll be dented (it was in 2 places with my copy)

veteran: fuck this!! its even more unbalanced than the last stage on normal mode, you play this with a different (yippie!!) ship with some serious firepower, BUT...you get NO pod & NO bullet soaking and unfortunately you actually need one or the other to get through certain points of the game without dying.
at times there's just too many bullets on screen which makes it impossible to doge everything (the mid boss in lv2 for example). also you shoot big white bullets which is awesome, since this makes everything easy to hit...unfortunately (again) when enemy fire passes through your bulletstream, you don't see em anymore & they hit you without you noticing.

last but not least the game froze up on me while playing veteran. I had to unplug my pad & insert it again for it to respond again; obviously by that time I had died...

I doubt if they actually tested veteran mode, and by tested I mean see if anyone can actually make it to the end without dying

on the other side,it'll be a real challenge for me to finish it. don't get me wrong; I love a challenge in a game, only not coz of its flaws :evil:

Wow, that sounds pretty bad. Isn't making enemy bullets lie above all other elements on screen kind of "STG design 101" basically? Good luck finishing that.

has anyone made it past LV4 on veteran yet? that boss just throws the screen full of bullets with literally NO space to avoid em...
