Just wanted to say that this will be a huge milestone Kazade. All the work that has gone into reviving online play has been stellar, but to have a new release with online play is something else. Hoping to see full lobbies on day one! I'll be there for sure.

Update time!

I've successfully managed to get online play working well with dial up. It's been really hard! I've had to find ways to reduce the bandwidth usage from 13kBps to just 3kBps. This should allow hosting 4 player games from a modem but I'm working on a way to improve the responsiveness if the host is playing over BBA or from another platform. I can still save 300 bytes per second by doing a bit more compression but I'm starting to break the laws of physics here.

Network testing is starting now and I'm hoping to have a public netdemo over the next few weeks.

At that point it's all about polish and focusing on the single player League mode. Stay tuned!

It is done: https://twitter.com/pcwzrd13/status/1568578571161018368

A few more things to fix, but the netdemo will be out soon. Probably before the end of the month.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait to support you further! Just saw the clip with online play, looks great. I am assuming this supports BBA also? Have you done testing with all players residing in different parts of the world?

It does support BBA - however I'm not going to lie... distributed modem play is going to lag and there's not much more I can do about that.

Modem Vs modem games are playable but BBA or PC hosts will play much better than dial up ones.

We're still testing to figure out what the limits are and what changes to make based on that :)

I saw you talking about some Dreamcast’s having 33k modems instead of 56k, will games on 56k modems play any better than 33k or is dial up locked to the same performance? Stoked for the online demo, I’m about to get my Dreamcast online for the first time ever and I’m really excited to play this one with everyone!

It seems that even if you have a 56k modem, you are limited to the upload speed of the usb modem you're connected to which means it's still 33.6k unfortunately in a dreampi set up
