We're delighted to be able to share an Dreamcast prototype of Shenmue 2 Game Jam (Apr 11, 2001)

It contains multiple discoveries about the Yu Suzuki's saga. So much so that you are able to play as him as the main character, instead of Ryo Hazuki!



This prototype is majestic, which is appropriate for such a majestic game.

Biggest Thing about this is Miao Village itself well almost. The story dialogue at least what was left on this build disc.

Shenmue 2 was meant to be alot more since Chapter 2 was meant to start on the Boat ride to Hong Kong. Way before you faced off against Chai, Ryo was meant to make friends who he would later meet up. There was going to be story about the Two Butchers who are arguing back & fourth at each other. Context off that story was them fighting over a woman you wouldn't know that!

I wouldn't go far say Miao Village is "Fully Tolded" No way I'm in that boat! Airing out the books was the filler that removed whatever Ryo real training was going to be in the Village. Alot of the Miao people got merged in Hong Kong & Kowloon. Who knows what the Mayor looked like. The Duck Boy qte who knew he was meant to play a much bigger part! Were the Yellow Head or the Chi You Men behind the Murder of Luo Kongzheng? Still don't know about the press up bars!

More to this village certainly just amazing what the Dreamcast can do we can't see this in motion still today sadly.

Oh forgot to mention that Xiuying and her brother Ziming had alot off connection to this village too. So Yeah a much bigger story was hidden away!

I hate to point out the GDI's won't work on the Serial Adaptor. Even though been able to play every other Shenmue GDI on that device. Not expecting a super quick fix rebuild out off no where! Grateful to revisit the Dreamcast world off Shenmue once again. New insights on Miao Village the story that growing around bringing new layers to the overhaul story that 3 couldn't even do for me!

It's probably because prototype prints debug messages over the serial port, and that interferes with the SD driver.

Shenmue 1 Beta Debug GDI's work fine on the Serial. This just has more Tracks won't read on hey nevermind hopefully in the near future!
