Hi everyone!
For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you've likely seen my recent updates about me and my team's in-progress English translation patch of Rainbow Cotton. If not, well, I figured I'd share the news here!
While this game may not be a heavy hitter that is extremely unplayable to those who don't speak Japanese, it's functioning as something of a "palette cleanser" after the incredible amount of work that I put into Sakura Wars: Columns 2. From a technical perspective, all reverse-engineering/hacking has already been done, and in fact all Japanese text found throughout the game, including stylized text in certain images, has been translated except for the level-progress screen, which is requiring extra outside help for some image clean-up.
Outside of those level-progress screens I mentioned above, the other work-in-progress area right now is transcribing, translating, subtitling, and re-encoding the 16 cutscene FMVs found throughout the game. As of right now, I can at least prove that it's possible. The example below is just for proof-of-concept purposes, so ignore the stretched out subtitle text.
Well, that's it for now! Stay tuned for more updates and eventually a full release!
SHOUTOUT: I'm lucky enough to be joined by the same core team that helped make Sakura Wars: Columns 2 possible. Those awesome people are:
- • Natsume38 - Transcribing/Translation
• Burntends - Translation
• Danthrax - Translation/Editing
• Patrick "TraynoCo" Traynor - FMV Subtitling
