New Karous English translation!

This was recently brought to my attention by our friend VasiliyRS. There is an all new English translation of the last officially licensed game for the Sega Dreamcast.

From their web page below you can see a lot was done to make this game in English.

https://segasky.itch.io/karous-eng-translation

Hello @everyone ;)

We are currently translating to English Karous / カラス for the SEGA Dreamcast console.

Karous (カラス) is a vertically scrolling dark shoot-'em-up with RPG elements, developed and published by Milestone Inc.. It was originally released on November 15, 2006 for the Sega NAOMI GD-ROM arcade platform, and was ported to the Sega Dreamcast. Upon its Japan-only launch on March 8, 2007, Karous became the last game to be officially released on the Dreamcast.

We already translated all stuff from the game (RafaGam japanase skills). Menus, descriptions, VMU screens, gameplay graphics, dialogs, opening & ending and icons.
In project I add also some graphics fixes. Like bigger fonts, bigger items icons, some smaller corrects and extras/easter eggs. This version will be better than the official English translation (Nintendo Wii port).

Patched files works on real SEGA hardware and emulators like NullDC, Demul, Makaron or Reicast etc. For free, without external patcher - just use a simple LazyBoot tool (ready to download) and overwrite your files ;)

Date of release : 8 JUNE 2019
For best resolution play game on TV and choose in Option - TATE MODE ^^

* PATCH INSTRUCTION IS AVAILABLE ON DOWNLOAD SECTION AND README.TXT FILE.

the end of the game has been translated (missing on Wii)
translated 256 "short titles" available at the start of the game in the upper right corner (not available on Wii)
translated menu, descriptions
fixed & translated "EYECATCH" ie pictures between the stages, additionally corrected white lines (not on Wii)
enlarged dialogue font
translated items icons (not on Wii)
improved subtitles on the tutorial
improved boss textures (not available on Wii)
translated texts on ships, bosses (not on Wii)
translated graphics ads, banners at the stages of the game (not on Wii)

I downloaded this upon release, and I'm either a noob for not being able to figure it out, or it can only make a .cdi file at the moment. Which is not the biggest problem, but I find it a bit strange since it can use a .gdi image as the source image.

This was the last game released on GDRom disc's, so I guess they want you to get the source image from your own dumped disc to patch? If so that makes sense.

When I released the translated version of Advanced Daisenryaku 2001 to my knowledge the guy allowed us to patch .cdi images, so not sure about if this team did differently? I haven't actually downloaded it or anything yet as I was only posting the info for news.

I tried the patch and it works (from the quick try I did), I'm just saying too bad you can't make a patched .gdi with it as well. Only reason I'd like that is because the GDEMU has the 'Skip boot up animation' and 'Skip SEGA logo' options, which only work with .gdi images. Otherwise .cdi is perfectly fine.

Anyway, would be nice to see the other NTSC-J only shmups translated in a similar fashion, dunno how feasible that is tho.

It's that tiny? Even a mini CD-R could fit

Does the GD use dummy I wonder

Thank ye kindly!

Oh yeah, I forgot, there was an option to add a dummy file but since I'm using a GDEMU, that would have been a waste of space for me. I'll see if I can make one with a dummy file some time later.
