I think the first thing that needs to be changed is lightening the road surface. It is WAY too dark. Have a look at it in comparison to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k43UEA2TyEU Its so dark that you cant see the wheels.

What is the source package for the mod? And Where to find the toolchain to make the mod? Where to get it?

Hey guys,

thanks for the replies!
I'll be releasing a test version today as GDI.
Sorry no CDI format yet. It's WIP which is not worth wasting a CDR on anyway.
The GDI works in DEMUL. The game is Dreamshell compatible according to PCWZRD13.
It probably needs to be converted to ISO by DCSWAT's Iso Maker Pack.


Maybe you could make a 2018 version with new drivers names and change the car textures to represent current year.

I've managed to update the team and drivers names to the 2017/2018 season. Got to figure out the texture file format yet.
I can see the the pixels in Irfan View and can modify them via hex editor,
but the real color palette needs to be figured out in order to make the colors show up correctly.

Yes. I'm interested, too. How can we/I support in detail?

The easiest way to help is to betatest, suggest some new content such as intro video, menu gfx, music tracks, modify and suggest car textures once their format is figured out etc.
I'll post in here what content exactly needs to be change.
For example the setings menu could be updated to show a modern dc with a dreampi connected to the dreamcast.
Instead of showing cars in team selection menu we could show official team logos instead etc.

Maybe you could swap the music from dayona usa 2001, or maybe some other Sega classic as the in game music in my opinion is pretty awful

Music is not a priority yet since cdda tracks demand the ISO to be created in a special more complicated way.
The beta versions will not feature music, which will be added in the final release.
Still there is no reason not to suggest music tracks until then.

If you need help I just made a selfboot of this game and still have the files.
My utility:

I'll surely will be needing help in creating the final release in CDI.
I spent days before I managed to create a working GDI file.
I had to get rip out the CDDA in order to make the game work in DEMUL.

Let's change the banner to have Shuouma instead of Castrol, lol! Too bad we cannot pay tribute to him somewhere!

That's what I've been thinking about already :D
Funny enough there is one team left. In 2017 season there is 10 teams while MRS2 features 11 (fake)teams from 1998.
So we could have a Dreampi team with 2 drivers. So Shuouma could be added as a driver :D
Who could take the second seat? Pettek3k for instance? Kazade? Impulse? Pcwzrd13?

I'm not sure how the lights work in this engine. But I probably could change the texture color to a brighter one, once I've figured out the color palette.

Just coordinate with me when the time comes, we can work it out. Probably the easiest would be just zipping up all the data stuff and I'll work out the CDDA stuff.

Also how did you manage to get this to run without corrupted graphics without CDDA? In my testing and researching I HAD to have CDDA or it would work but have terribly corrupted 3d graphics.
