A member of the team posted on the SHIRO! discord that the project is still active as recently as May 6th. Gotta give 'em time as these things take hella time.
Any updates since then or...?

Although you're right, it just irks me that they abandoned their official Twitter account (TaishoRoman3). The last time they posted was April 2024. I wish they'd just do a yearly check in instead of relegating updates to a private Discord server.

I was following a particular translator I forget their name but that’s who I talked to, they had moved over to Bluesky when Twitter turned to X so they might have moved more of it over there too, the same team just released a Sakura wars 2 translation for Saturn so they’re all working on multiple translations at once it seems too

I only spotted the Sakura Wars 2 translation a few days ago - was there an announcement here in the past?

I know it's Saturn - but this was one of the biggest Dreamcast franchises in Japan - and part 2 did a get a Dreamcast release.

Glad to hear they're working on Part 3 - and may they take as long as it takes. I'm still working my way through part 1 - and these are huge projects that really need to be done right.

I agree with Sakura Wars 1 - but part 2 (and a big chunk of the series) did appear on the Dreamcast.

I wonder if anyone could take the work from the Saturn translation and create a Dreamcast translation? Is anyone working on it? (or is it a bit pointless?)

It simply being released on Dreamcast too does not mean that someone is going to share news of the release of the Saturn patch here on a Dreamcast forum. That was my point.

Regarding your question, the Dreamcast port is actually inferior in terms of music due to some differences in synth hardware, but of course graphically it's improved. I doubt anyone would spend the time on it.
