Here's the VGA output

Here's the Cable Select output

Maybe it's just my eyes but with the Cable Select mode selected you get the raw pixels, which is what I'd have thought we would have got with VGA. Looks like there's some sort of filtering happening to the VGA signal as it's fuzzy/washed out, for the lack of a better term. Looks like in "Terry", we're starting to lose the top and bottom of the lettering when in VGA, compared to Cable Select.

Well as an update to this saga, I got a HW2 DCHDMI and installed it last night. Same issue. eugh!!! think there's an issue with the flex but it all test ok on both HW1 & HW2, not sure what values I should be getting from various points etc so have asked on the PixelFX discord to see if there's any pointers.

at this rate I reckon I'll just yeet the current flex out the window and put the 1 that came with the HW2 on and see where I'm up to.

UPDATE: reflowed everything on the flex. still the same. took the flex off and it lifted 2 pads on the video DAC. FML! got a cheap DC on fb so waiting on it arriving to do a fresh install. Sadly if this fixes it, I'll never know if it was the board or the old flex.

pitito wrote:Thanks to the patch for Air Force Delta US provided by @TapamN, I was able to locate the values for DEADLY SKIES (PAL version of the game)
File 0.000 (It is the game binary)
offset
0xFF16 change 2AE4 to 01E4
0x170BE2 change 8002 to 4001
0x1A726A change 01C9 to 01E0

Previously I posted this VGA fix to the Pal Deadly Skies version (Airforce Delta US version VGA fix thanks to Napalm).
I have discovered two screen decentering errors in VGA mode.
The first error is when loading the game directly, when selecting a mission the map appears off-center.
This only happens in this period, if you leave the intro or start a new game or as soon as you play the centering values are rewritten and it will be corrected automatically, but if you load the game from the main menu as soon as you start the game this problem will occur...

The other issue comes with the third person camera while playing, and I think someone reported this.

Well, I have managed to fix both problems, only in deadly skies.
If anyone wants to correct the problem by searching for these values in airforce delta, they are free to do so.
offset binary file 0.000
0x150AEC change 00002044 to 0000C043
0X150AF4 change 0000F043 to 0000D843
0X150EE0 change 43F3 to 53F3
0X150FE8 change 00000040 to 9A991940

These changes will solve both

Thanks for contributing this! I've applied these fixes to the NTSC-U version.

Would anybody familiar with the game like to test to ensure everything is working as expected? Seems okay to me.

EDIT: I tested the latest version of the Airforce Delta VGA patch I had, and can't reproduce either of those two issues you reported, Pitito. The map and the third-person camera view both look perfectly fine. Not sure this update is needed for NTSC-U?

You can try this VGA-patched disc image I built last May to see if it behaves as expected, or has problems. From what I saw, it was fine.

Well yes, this seems to be going well...
If I had known, I would have saved the time spent searching for the values to patch.

I'm going to try to pass this patch to deadly skies and see if it behaves the same
