I'll soon post more details on a dedicate topic and yes it would definitely need to be reprogrammed.
If there will be issues related to PVR those can be VQ compressed and models simpilfied. DTPK and SPSD should not pose much of an issue in memory usage.

From my understanding, they could reduce audio to mono, and decrease texture of backgrounds, and get naomi games to work.
