Dreamcast LAN games on Xlink kai?

Recently I've seen some people making their own vs link cable. Then I was thinking, would be possible to make a serial cable where you connect the Dreamcast in a PC and play the LAN games using something similar to the Xlink Kai?

Compatible games with the cable:

Aero Dancing F
Cyber Troopers Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram M.S.B.S. Ver. 5.4
F355 Challenge
Sega Tetris

If possible it would be awesome!

It would be interesting to see some sort of serial to USB cable that you could plug into a Dreampi that could then route everything to someone else's Dreampi and BOOM! you're playing LAN games on the internet.

That is a much better idea than mine! It would be awesome.

It's definitely possible but I'm not sure anyone would want to go through all the work to make this happen when all of the VS games have online multiplayer. Getting the servers back online would be a better choice. ;)

Ferrari 355 doesnt have online multiplayer. It is some sort of time trials

True but it's close enough. Up to 16 players race separately and their times are compared at the end. It's essentially racing but without being able to see the other players on the track.

I'd be up for this, to play Ferrari F355 Challenge against others on here. Trick the Dreamcast into believing it's a LAN game. Though I do get that it's going to be a little tougher and not as crucial as reactivating servers for other titles. Daytona USA has legit online play, so that would be my preference out of the two, but at least it offers a potential online mode for F355.

In fact NeoSNK's list suggests this algorithm might be usable for more games. As neither Aero Dancing F, Cyber Troopers Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram M.S.B.S. Ver. 5.4 or F355 Challenge appear on the online multiplayer listing. Sega Tetris is the only one on there, and its server is already online.

Defo worth a punt, but it's completely understandable that it isn't a current priority.

They're all listed on the online Japanese games list here.

You're probably confusing it with Next Tetris. Sega Tetris was only released in Japan and is not currently online.

Ah I see. They're just not on this site yet cos they were Japan-only releases. Sorry about that.

In which case this would still be cool as a side project for F355, but yeah it's a very low-priority thing based on that also including the Time Trials mode.
