Hydra Castle Labyrinth Homebrew port [WIP]

Image
Here's a port of Hydra Castle Labyrinth for the Sega Dreamcast.
Currently, the game works fine and saving is supported. (the first VMU on the first controller)
Thanks to Indiket, sound also works now.

Cool. Thanks. What's the source of the upstream source code?

The source code was based on ptitseb's port to ARM devices :
https://github.com/ptitSeb/hydracastlelabyrinth

i think some random japanese dude was the one who wrote the code but i forgot where his repo was...
Let me know if sound works on real hardware.

Hi guys,

I had a look at this game, and I have something for you: a fixed version with working sound and music. Please, test it, this is provided also as WIP ;)

http://www.dreamcast.es/descargas/juegos/hydra-src.zip

Changelog:
- Fixed a bug when game tried to load from VMU and there was no file (now it checks propertly that /ram file exists).
- Fixed all SFX files, now they have a working WAV header so KOS can load and play them nicely. I used Audacity to fix all the WAV files.
- Fixed music using the new OPUS format, works much better than OGG in the latest KOS. To do that, first I converted original MIDI to AIFF, and then AIFF to OPUS thanks to the OpusEncoder utility.

Hope you enjoy it, and happy new year!

Greetings,

Indiket

Hey thanks Indiket !
I facepalmed so much when i looked at your modifications...
So Opus was simply not working because the volume was set too low, right ? lol...
I'll also keep that in mind for the WAV files.
I can confirm it works properly now (at least on redream) so i rebuilt the game based on your modifications and have updated the game.

I don't think there's anything left to do now, it should be playable.
