I'm about to test the mouse to see if I can get it to work in a game because I can do that now, but in answer to this specific request, including the name that I get from lsusb:

PDP Afterglow PL-3702.

Code: Select all

Logic3 Afterglow Gamepad for Xbox 360
Hori Gem Pad EX, can't find anything more specific on the controller itself

Code: Select all

ThrustMaster, Inc. Hori Gem Controller for Xbox 360
PDP Versus Fight Pad MS-3660

Code: Select all

Harmonix Music PDP Versus Fighting Pad for Xbox 360
You can use 240p Test Suite for Dreamcast to test your devices. It has a Controller Test section.

MoeFoh, is it better to take USB 2.0 for 16 Gb? When formatting flash memory, what cluster size should I specify and what program should I use?
Windows format should work just fine. Quick Format, FAT32, Cluster Size use default.

Pretty expected info from 240p test suite. Not recognizing the 360 pad as even existing, but recognizing the mouse as a Dreamcast Mouse.

Mouse also seems to work fully (along-side OEM Dreamcast keyboard that I've had for years) in Outtrigger. It feels a bit sluggish, but it's probably just that I'm used to higher mouse sensitivity on my PC. I also have rarely ever played FPS/TPS type games.

I ended up finding an OEM 360 wired pad that was significantly cheaper than any receiver and looked to be in good condition (on eBay), so I bought it and will test once I can.

As an update, I have tried both an OEM 360 wired pad and my RetroBit Saturn Pad. The good news is that they seem to be working fine. I was able to play some MDK2 with the 360 pad in Shooter mode which was cool (still a difficult game though).

Unfortunately, the Saturn pad is mapped in a way that is very far from ideal. The worst part is that the d-pad is being recognized as an analog stick. A surprising number of 2D games, the sorts of games that I really would want the legendary saturn d-pad for, just simply don't recognize a-stick input. Some examples are most, though not all, shmups that I tried, Guilty Gear X, Bust A Move 4, and Cave Story (sdiso version).

Games that do seem to work fine, that I tried, include Mars Matrix (the best game on the system, so that's good), Giga Wing 2, Cannon Spike (not Zero Gunner 2 though), Rival Schools, and MvC 2.

The other annoying thing is that it does the RetroArch thing where A and B, and X and Y are swapped, which bugs me, but is probably something I could get used to. That being said, it would probably screw with people who are playing 6 button FTGs with hard/med/soft punches and kicks.

Good news - the Saturn usb pad is configurable. See the small macro box in the pdf. Settings are not saved after power off. Start+B for 5 seconds switches to x-input mode from the default d-input - that would be for pc use. I have the Genesis usb version and it looks like they work similarly.

Oh dang! I will check that out later today, thanks! Would be pretty game changing if I could use it for those 2D arcade games. I never realized it had different modes. Even if it doesn't work on the Dreamcast, being able to use it for PC games that don't support d-input would be nice.

Okay, this is sweet! Can't seem to switch to xinput while plugged into the DC (I can when plugged into the PC), but the macros to switch from analog to d-pad and switch the mapping of A/B and X/Y do work, this is awesome!
