OFFLINE. Just wanted to give that one away.
Hey guys, I've been thinking lately:
Isn't it about time for a new real GREAT Dreamcast tournament to kill some time and determine the best all-around Dreamcast gamer?
That's why I'm presenting to you the Eleventh Grand Dreamcast Battle!
... Yes, it is indeed the first, but "Eleventh" just sounds cooler, doesn't it? :3
The "Grand" actually comes the fact that it wouldn't be limited to dc-talk. Even though this site is my base of operations (the chat to be exact), I think it would be interesting to see how an inter-boardual challenge would work out. AND let's not forget all the interesting challenges that would occur...
*Ahem* About the rules:
To be honest, I was heavily influenced by this former competition.
As mentioned above, it would be offline. Yeah, the DC's online capabilities are excellent, but a lot more people can compete in an offline tournament, you see what I mean?
Next you're probably asking "Captain, what games do you have in mind?"
Well, I'm not thinking about games to be exact, I'm thinking about genres. Yeah, the tournament will consist of 10 games from 10 different genres. Each game will be elected in polls on the forums that participate. The game with the most votes wins, simple as that. After the game is elected, participants will have one week to submit a time/score (depends on the game). During that time, the next game is elected.
So, including the week when the first game is decided, the tournament will last for eleven weeks.
Concerning the rankings: It would probably be easiest to just have the first one get ten points, the second one nine points, etc... and then see how things work out.
Just to make sure not EVERYONE cheats, I think it would be best to implement the "pics-or-it-didn't-happen" rule. Yeah.
So, what do you think? Would this kind of tournament be fun, or would it burn and crash like a space colony attached to a giant lizard?
