SEGA does have the money & budget to sell a console. Its a simple piece of cake in Japan but overseas they have a brand problem. Their brand name is not strong enough for them to sell a successful console in America.

They've got work to do. And must start from the ground up hardware wise. Casino Slots,Machines, Game Android Tablets.

I think we'll see a High end SEGA console get a Japanese release almost a year before its released overseas.

If the dc Pad/RINGBOOK has some original features, I don't see how thats patent infringement. Or if SEGA purchased a Android patent design from a 3rd party.

What makes you think success in Japan is a given when the last successful Sega console over there was launched almost 18 years ago?

That's just it...Name me One Android OEM who has won a patent Infringement case against Microsoft.

If this so called tablet launches MS can easily take Sega to court just for Using Android, and can extract anywhere between $10-$15 per tablet sold. This is until someone can defeat them in court(Motorola maybe or Barnes and Nobles) Or the patent is ruled invalid for other reasons.

So the more This thing sells the more money MS would get from Sega. How do you think MS has been able to keep WP7 afloat? An Android subsidy via licensing.

@CruSega. Umm.. You do know that the Japanese console market is pretty weak & way smaller than it was 18 years ago. Since 2008, the average console maker only sells about 50,000 units a month. Wii & PS3 barely break even. The only hardware that has stronger market penetration is handhelds, namely Nintendo handhelds DS,3DS.

You know Sega has a stronger brand name in Japan. Japanese consumers WANT SEGA to release new game hardware.

The stuffy Japanese market would be easy conquest for SEGA. Theyll take a Sega console over a new Playstation or Wii anyday.

I thought Google not Mircosoft owned the patent & license to Android and its OS design.

I don't think it makes much of a difference. Even if Android belongs to MS & the tablet were implemented with Windows 7 Phone, SEGA would never obtain it without Mircosoft's premission. After all, SEGA & Mircosoft have always had good business relations with each other.

Google owns the OS and has some patents to itself, However Microsoft is claiming that The Android OS itself violates some of it's patents ergo leading to lawsuits.

No Android OEM has defeated MS as of yet to invalidate said patents so Licensing is in order. The cheapest I've heard MS go is $5, no lower(save Nokia). Everyone else is 10 or 15.

@Logic. Are Mircosoft's patent claims valid? I wonder if they even have proof that these infringements are legit.
