First up - Next Xbox to launch in 2013 - Report

Quote: "Develop reports that chip manufacturers and software middleware firms expect the next Xbox to be announced at E3 2013, with a launch following in time for the holidays. This would be an announcement-to-launch timeline similar to the Xbox 360, which was revealed just six months before the console hit retail in November 2005. "

Second - Sony studios "begin PlayStation 4 projects"

Quote: "Preliminary work on PlayStation 4 games has begun at several internal Sony studios, Develop understands.

A trusted source connected to the matter has told Develop that various game projects are at very early stages, though didn’t reveal which of Sony’s sixteen first-party studios had been delegated the work.

Few in the games business expect a new PlayStation to launch before 2014 – the next few Christmases will likely see Sony marketing software for PS3, Move and its new Vita handheld."

Lastly - Xbox 720 Launch Not Likely in 2013, PS4 Coming First, says Analyst

Quote "Xbox Next, as it's been dubbed according to sources at Develop, could be launched in 2013, but some believe Sony is likely to take action first, rather than allowing Microsoft to get the first mover's advantage as they did this generation with Xbox 360. RW Baird analyst Colin Sebastian told IndustryGamers that Sony probably will launch its next PlayStation first.

"I doubt they will be ready for launch in 2013. Between Sony and Microsoft, we expect Sony to be first to market perhaps as early as 2013, but more likely in 2014. There is still a lot of investment for both companies to recoup in the current generation," he said."

Looks like things are really hotting up in the next generation systems, with both PS4 and Xbox720 being readied for launch. 8-)

Lets hope it will actually have some good games at launch....or at all for that matter.

Doesn't look like it. Certainly no credible reports anyway.

I don't think it was releasing first that gave the XBox 360 the upper hand in the US market but that the PS3 launched at a prohibitively high price point due to the inclusion of Blu Ray. Had the PS3 used a DVD drive to lower production costs, they would likely have pulverized the Xbox 360 even in America and especially because of the RROD fiasco.

599 US DOLLARS. :ugeek:
Didn't the touch sensitive buttons add up the price a tad bit also though?

Checks trademarks types in "Playstation 4". Nothing. Checks Sony's patents. Something for a camera,USB device,Blu-Ray recorder, NOT a DAMN thing about a new Playstation console. Types in PS4 and this is what shows up:

http://www.trademarkia.com/ps4-77347743.html

http://www.trademarkia.com/ps4-plus-78360229.html

So you should be feeling pretty foolish now especially for you pathetic attempt to troll me without any thing to back up why I'm wrong. I guess Sony's making a Supercomputer for interface data and super wireless internet networks.

I just finished checking Sony's trademarks and TWO of them jumped out at me:

http://www.trademarkia.com/playstation-85093015.html (For ALL Playstation brands as well as the mark for Playstation R&D) If it doesn't get renewed in 3 months, this means Sony has not started development on a PS3 successor.

http://www.trademarkia.com/near-85377446.html

So Sony is going to start selling a PS3 based arcade board & may infact do 3rd party amusment IPs?

Also here's definetive proof that Playstation 3 started development & concepting WAY back in 1999!

Hmm let's see .. Who do I trust?

An industry insider magazine aimed at developers, or a uninformed fan who relies on patents.

Decisions ... Decisions!
