success!!!! after hours of tinkering yesterday i have found the issue. Go to cmail server and go to options and go to advanced and change isp smpt server from smtp.gmail.com to smtp.googlemail.com and you should have emails going back and forth on the sonic adventure leader boards. from here https://productforums.google.com/forum/ ... rYh5gwfgaE

Before this post gets buried in time, can we create a "setting up Dreamcast Email" guide for this site :).

Also as itsthinkingstill found out the smtp is smtp.googlemail.com now.

I tried this with my Yahoo Mail, and I could receive emails, but not send them. I tried sending one to my main AOL email from Planetweb and it said it send successfully, but I did not receive it on my main AOL email. I also sent an email from Sega Swirl, but I didn't get that one either. Looking in the cmailserver log, I can see that the email failed to send. It seems AOL blocks emails from residential IP addresses. So I setup the cmailserver account in Outlook Express on the computer running cmailserver for testing purposes. I tried to send an email to my same Yahoo email from Outlook Express, but that didn't work either. In cmailserver I got a scary error that said "FAILED: 421 4.7.0 [TSS09] All messages from <my public ip> temporarily deferred due to user complaints - 4.16.56.1; see https://help.yahoo.com/kb/postmaster/SLN3326.html: yahoo.com(mx)" I don't know who would be complaining, I only tried to send a few emails to my personal AOL email address. So it seems this won't work to send email from Yahoo, or to send emails to AOL email address.

Running your own SMTP server is probably what a spammer would do to get around the protections of major SMTP servers, so it makes sense that your outgoing messages would be blocked.

You could try typing 'whats my ip' in google and setting that as your incoming and outgoing mail servers, but it might not work. You'll probably have to forward the POP3 and SMTP ports to your PC running cmailserver

I updated the smtp server in the original guide: https://sites.google.com/site/segarpgfa ... dreceivedc

I'm glad some of you found it useful. I made that originally for my own references. I didn't know anyone had put the info to use. FWIW the same method works for the Saturn Netlink. You can send and receive files, however if you try to save them to your pc and reattach them to an email something in the header gets screwed up and the Saturn browser won't recognize the file as a save file.
