one disc that does not read

hey all, first i would like to say hello as i am new to this forum. hopefully you guys can help me out here. i have had the same dreamcast since it came out and i have never had a problem with it or any of my games. recently, i bought the sega smash pack for the virtua cop game. the disc won't read. it just brings me to the dc menu screen and when i hit the game icon it just says insert disc while the disc is just spinning. i have tried the game on another working dreamcast with the same issue. could it just be a bad disc? oh also, it doesn't appear to have any scratches either.

Could've gone thru some heavy duty re-surfacing. The other reason could be some disc rot that's occurring in an important spot on the disc.

yep, disc rot. thats why we have cdi's now
