Hello
I am new here but I have been a Dreamcast fan for years! I still love my Genesis and Genesis CD too. Anyway, I am looking for someone to repair a couple of Dreamcast that I have and I would also like them to be "modded" to play games from any region. Can anyone help?
Regards,
Steven

all you need is a bootdisk like Utopia (free).
pluscopied games are regionfree/selfboot

I have a couple of boot disc. I am really looking for someone who actually repairs Dreamcast. I found a company in Great Britain that fixes retro system problems and will also mod them. I think it is a good idea to mod the system if you already have it open for a repair. I appreciate you trying to help though. With all of the great games coming out for this system I would feel better if I found a reliable way to get my Dreamcast fixed. I do have a couple of new Dreamcast just in case but I also have two that do not work. I want to get those two repaired and modded.

On the assemblergames.com forums, there are two users there who could help you out.

APE - is a user based in the US who can install the region free bios, and do repair work.
Bad Ad 84 - is a user based in the UK who can do the same.

Note that your dreamcasts might not be repairable, and also that each of these users charge money for their services (I think like $30 or $40, plus you pay shipping).

Thank you very much Dark. I will contact the Stateside repair outlet you have suggested. I think my Dreamcast are repairable. I have a "glitchy" port that I plug my VGA cable into. The British repair outlet told me that it should be easy to repair.
Regards,
Steven :)

Hi do you have a link, mail address or any other form of contact for bad as 84 in the UK? I really need to get my NTSC/jp machine region free, I swear that my original Jap machine use to run NTSC/u games out of the box, my current DC doesn't, my electronic skills are about zero, so I'd rather pay good money for a professional job than destroy my DC's mother board.

Wouldnt it just be cheaper to buy another used one I have seen US/Jap models for 40-50 bucks on ebay instead of repairing them just get one for each thats what I am doing.

I have gone the used Dreamcast route and I did not like it. The only used Dreamcast that I have been happy with (“happy” as in they have been working problem free for a few months now) are “refurbished” Dreamcast. I bought two of them on Ebay from Lukie Games for only $59.00 a piece. The reasons that I have decided to not buy a Japanese system are first it would be used and second I would have to have two systems “set-up” on the same monitor or I would have to “switch” the two systems out to play the different games (games from either region I mean). I appreciate you trying to help though. :P

Ahh I see but you could always get a VGA switch and have both hooked up to one monitor as well ;-)
