Here are some photos of the Retrobit Dreamcast Controller with Saturn D-Pad, Built in Rumble Motor and extra Z/C Buttons for fighting games, updated Analog Stick and Extra long cord...Also note the wired version only has one slot for its VMU (no micorphone support-unless you remove your VMU : ( ) and the Wireless Version is missing both its VMU Slots, which only one will be used with its 2.4ghz dongle. Wireless Controller Features a swap-able/replaceable battery so If you choose you can keep a extra charged and ready. Wireless Dongle has a built in kick stand and sync button.
Here is a video of the Retrobit Controllers with all the info above and then some https://youtu.be/PA9137JeXnw?si=GeK-tLfIFA_n_3Vy
Also one more thing...Please go on their twitter and give them feedback on the design, they want community feedback on how its looks and what features us the community would like included !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Retrobit Controller still in the oven ATM...shown off 2023 Portland Retro Gaming Expo
I left this comment on the YouTube video:
The d-pad is great, as is the improvement to the analog stick, but, like others, the button layout is going to feel weird. The built-in rumble is nice, but the lack of a second VMU slot or any VMU slot at all is a problem. What about being able to transfer files between VMUs? What about playing games that use the microphone?
I know they're catering to fighting game fans and people that aren't using this on Dreamcast, but let's be honest, most people that aren't diehard Dreamcast fans don't like the DC controller to begin with. And any serious DC user probably has a fighting pad or stick for their DC already. What people want is a reliable, wireless Dreamcast controller. Trying to find this middle ground is going to work against this controller.
Hopefully they do take into account the community and improve on this prototype design.

Not wireless but this is available with a long cord

As for this retrobit prototype they will need to market it to work on other products to sell as many as possible. I like the six button layout, analog sticks and Saturn style dpad. How many games use the microphone?

For me it really need a second d-pad or stick mapped to ABXY. It would be great for fps, xenocrisis and bangai o.
I would also change the vmu slot with a small screen directly in the controller and add internal memory.
I think I will stay with the normal controller and arcade stick.

Ehhh they took too long on this . Retrofighters is coming out with a wireless version of theirs are they not? I dont see the big deal about being upset with the lack of a VMU either. At the rate these guys are going their DC controller will hit the market in and around the time I become a senior citizen.

Yup they have wireless version coming also with traditional layout. Only question is build quality. They've chosen a dock for vmu also.Stringer_bell wrote:Ehhh they took too long on this . I'm no developer/engineer so maybe this is a stupid question... but why hasn't anyone developed a DC controller with an integrated VMU and tiny OLED screen?

Dreamcon Has an integrated vmu but no oled I do understand some of your point. Maybe the Dreamcon VM2 creator will integrate the technology together to build a controller that has integrated vmu with sd storage you can move between. right now you need to swap vmu's for different games. I am loving my new vm2 just licking a button and moving between games and genre'sretro wrote:I'm no developer/engineer so maybe this is a stupid question... but why hasn't anyone developed a DC controller with an integrated VMU and tiny OLED screen?
