Widescreen codes

Post by Andrew »

Hello, I would like to attempt adding some widescreen codes to my games, starting with 4 Wheel Thunder. I have downloaded the HxD program.
This is the code for 4 Wheel Thunder I found on retro-magic.de

USA

020AD5B0 4A2671C4
02112E00 401CCCCD

The tutorial I watched showed a find code and a replace code: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSklLtO-UPI Strangely the retro-magic.de site seems to have changed since the tutorial was made. It no longer specifies find and replace, only gives codes. Can you guys help me with this, thanks.

You'll need to use a cheat disc such as Codebreaker to use those codes - they don't involve editing the game itself, instead they are applied by the program prior to the game booting.

Let us know if you have success! I've found that a couple of the widescreen codes on retro-magic, Sega Retro and Assemblergames don't actually work on real hardware - I think they're almost always found using emulators, but not all of them are tested on consoles.

I can't use a codebreaker disc since i'm using a gdemu dreamcast. I did another search and found this page which has hex-patch codes: http://retro-magic.de/Dreamcast_Hex_Patches_en so it was my mistake for looking at the wrong codes. I will let you know how it goes with those.
