I imagine you've already solved this, by the time that has passed, but in addition to the Ives Alerion patched version, you can use the original version, or an unfixed cdi to direct you to the server, and use codebreaker codes to get your copy or original disk to connect to the server. The option of having a legitimate copy is the best one, as this way you can participate in the server events, which makes everything a lot of fun, besides being able to use the server resources that are very useful.
