Question regarding Dreamcast rev 2

Post by Astro »

I recently bought a Dreamcast, and noticed that it was a revision 2, manufactured in October of 2000.

I've heard from some sources on the internet that all revision 2 models cannot play backups, while some say that models from Oct. 2000/some Nov. 2000 models can play backups.

Is it possible to play backups on Oct. 2000 models? :?

now i've never personally seen one but have heard the last revision took out milcd support and thus backups. its a bios patch so if is one u can install a preprogrammed flash (needs to be preprogrammed as the piggy back method needs milcd to boot dc-swats dreamshell to flash, and u cant boot milcd) this will get around the problem also might aswell use a region free bios such as the original or the new one by japcake which wicked as has extra features. also apprently the last revision has gdrom board intergraded to mb so cant use odes, they surely are rare as for a while usb gdrom dude advertised compatible with all dcs till he posted pic of the va2 with intergraded gd rom. i've never seen one tho in all the ones i've owned n restored to sell so not common but clearly do exists

Think I've read from atreyu187 the BIOS with MIL-CD delete are very rare

So many Rev 2s should still be unlimited
