Hello,
I have got hold off a second GDEMU for my other Dreamcast that did have the USB GDROM issue.
It's working great and I'm having no problems at all with it.
Anyway I have notice that someone as posted a link to a FW update from the guy that makes USB GDROM.
I still never had any reply from the guy. From the last email I sent him with the video.
Anyway I'm going to give that FW update a go and see if it may fix the issue I was having with the menu, controller going dead when clicking on a game.
It was very much freezing the screen up all the time.
I will give it ago and get back.
Thank you to the person that as posted the link.

Thanks!victoryrhoads wrote:MNEMO got back to me, he sent me this link; https://yadi.sk/d/4_38jLb23U9aGg
The background is different now. All black, with green(i'm colorblind) text it looks like.
I highly suggest people keep older firmware versions on file from here on in.
Opened a Google Drive share so we can keep the older released at hand.
Though MNEMO made the firmwares in a way it is not possible to downgrade, at least last time I tried.

Re: [USB GDROM] Troubleshooting & Firmware updates
Thanks for replying. The firmware is on the root.Xiden wrote:Its been awhile since I've updated firmware on my USB-GDrom drive. When you boot into the Menu the date should be 2017/09/05 - Sept 5th 2017.
You put the firmware in the root folder right? Basically it needs to be in the root drive then execute it then it should say its updating.
Downloaded the 18-04-18 and opened it the same way, and it just updated. Might have been the date thing, but I didn't get to check. I just tried the new one instead and it went.

Re: [USB GDROM] Troubleshooting & Firmware updates
Hello,
I just tried this update on a USB 2.0 64GB pen drive formatted with guiformat.
Using FAT32 with 64k clusters.
Anyway I have put the FW on the root off the USB from the link someone as posted on here. "USB-GD_fw-18-04-18(O).bin"
Anyway for some unknown reason when I click on the bin file of the update it will take me to the music player all the time.
Showing two tracks. lol
Anybody know why this is happening?
I'm having know luck with USB GD ROM lol
---------
Update
I just tried with two more USB Pen drives and tried formatting it under Windows 7.
It's still doing the same thing.
It will load up the blue menu.
But as soon I click on the bin OS update it will boot up the music player.
I think my USB GDRom is broken,
The only thing I can think off.
Probably when I first got it and updated it too the latest OS update that broken it.
As it did update when I first got it.
Anyway I'm happy with my GDEMU.
Just thought I will try again on getting it working.
Thank you

Re: [USB GDROM] Troubleshooting & Firmware updates
Hi all,
I recently aquired a usb gdrom drive and so far its working brilliantly but I have this odd problem which i discovered when playing D2.
It seems the console will only switch disc when the lid is open. Once i close the lid, the disc image is removed, like the lid switch function is backwards.
Is this by design ? I tried the switch file ini but that made no difference.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Archvile

Re: [USB GDROM] Troubleshooting & Firmware updates
@Robbie I can confirm the same behavior... Foolishly I decided ro update my firmware today and expeeienced the same problems you have since updating to the 9/5/2017 release and tried the hot fix release with the same results. Downgrading isnt possible so have to try and reach out to MNEMO... In the meantime i suggest avoiding updating any firmware if you have a working system as im guessing the 9/5 release bricks certain pcb revisions...

It also depends on which way you are going for the disc swap.
Are you using the lid switch or the software solution?
