Re: [USB GDROM] Troubleshooting & Firmware updates

I recently decided to upgrade from the Sandisk Ultra usb 256gb to the 512gb model to fit more games, however, it's not working and just hangs on the Dreamcast bootup screen. I know that it's not recommended to use USB 3.0, but the 256gb version worked great for me so I thought the bigger version wouldn't be a problem either.

Has anyone else gotten 512gb USB 3.0 to work with the USB GDrom? I've tried 32k and 64k clusters but nothing, just wondering if there is anything I can do before giving up.

I've yet to hear of anyone getting a USB 3.0 Thumbdrive working. As far as Thumbdrives go 2.0 256GB seems to be the max.
However I read someone was able to use a USB Card reader with a 400GB MircoSD. That may be a alternative route.

i have two 256gb 3.0 SanDisk (cruiser and ultra) ones that work flawlessly, but maybe it's just an issue with the 512gb ones like you say. Oh well guess I'll have to just keep swapping things out. Thanks!

Hi, everything worked fine until the new firmware was flashed.. now the games which worked before does not work, example Bluestinger US NTSC version but the PAL version works.. all images are Tosec Rips GDI files.. any one else that has the same issue ?
Is there a way to downgrade ?

If you skipped multiple firmware updates it can break the unit. You will need to email mnemo and he will get you a custom firmware update.

this link you have posted is for "USB-GDROM_fw-18-04-18(O).bin" not 2019/06/06 as you have written

it's the only game that doesn't work and i've played hundreds (so it can't be my storage device)

Always use GDI's when you can. Check the Ultimate Dreamcast Archive thread for GDI's
