Something I've tried to do a couple times is setup a Linux E-mail relay on the DreamPi that functions the same way as my guide here viewtopic.php?f=42&t=7844
The problem is "relay" is a very broad term in terms of the wide array of uses programs like PostFix have. I don't really understand how to make it so you input "192.168.1.99" as your POP3/SMTP servers on Dreamcast, and it will relay a sent e-mail from Dreamcast, to the Raspberry Pi e-mail relay, out to e-mail provider like Gmail
Sending and receiving e-mail from a Dreamcast browser is kind of a novelty, but the Sonic Adventure ranking program allows you to send e-mail messages between users. As does Dreampipe BB (which would be nice if there was more activity over there ). Something like this coupled with a dedicated e-mail account would essentially make your Dreamcast e-mail client a private inbox for Dreamcast online. Where you configure it once by SSHing into the Pi, putting login info in ~/login.txt, then not have to configure it again
There is the CmailServer guide above, but it's a slight hassle to configure and your PC needs to be running for it to work. Having a 'configure and forget' solution on the DreamPi would be really great
Can anyone look into this and ask Kazade to put it in the next DreamPi release?
