Getting online...

Okay, so I just bought a dreamcast and I have the broadband adapter. Here are my questions on how do I get online to play games?

1. With the broadband adapter can I just add it on and just plug the ethernet cable into the wall and surf the web on any page? Like facebook, youtube, google, or do I need something else other than the broadband adapter to get online?

2. If I have the broadband adapter what else do I need to do in order to get online and play the games with you guys. B/c I've never had the chance to get a dreamcast until now and I really want to play online at least. So your help would be greatly appreciated.

3. What games are playable online? Does a good amount of people play online consistently?

Your feedback on how to get setup and get online to surf the web and play games would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

1. Yes you basicly just have to do that. what you need to do is download xdp webrowser
http://dreamcast-talk.com/uploads/pso/x ... dition.rar
burn it put it on your dreamcast go to options and set just about everything to bba if you need more help let me know.
then you go to connect and then try to go to url it will ask you for one the best choice to be honest would be google leave in the http:// and put in www.google.com. and if you connect to google congrats you are online. Now as for the games that go online. from what i know most of the dreamcast games go through a pc-dc server which is not a bba server. the only ones for right now that go online are
Phantasy Star Online schtck and dc-talk server
Quake 3 arena
Doom Port(were testing it to see if we can get it to connect)

Idk about facebook and such but some websites are dreamcast compatable but remember dreamcast does not have flash and java so it will kinda suck.
as for players we are getting a lot of new players lately especialy for pso the most active players right now are
Myself
Doc
Greenman
Farv
Teamx
Radkin
We do have more then that i just havent played with them in about a week so i dident include them to be highly active we have around 20 players that play on our pso server.
as for Quake3
Me
Radkin
Dobs
Teamx
(and other random pc players)
for q3 i recomend schedualing a game and time since it only allows 4 people online at once
As for doom
i was able to get the image to burn right and it recognised my router and ip address but i will need some other people who can get there network options to work as well hope this helps out

Alright...So I need to download that program and then burn it to a CD...What program do I use to download it to a disc? You said once I have it downloaded go to "options" on the dreamcast and set everything to BBA. What do you mean by that exactly?

1. Can I still play with you guys even though I have a broadband connnection?

2. And when I put in a game like Quake 3 in my dreamcast, can I just go to "Play Online" and just start playing with you guys or do I need to do something different?

Use Disc Juggler to burn it to a cd-r disc.

Yes you can play with us, but t he broadband adapter isn't compatible with the following currently online games.

StarLancer
4x4Evo
Maximus Pool

It is however compatible with these currently online games.

Quake 3 Arena
Phantasy Star Online V2
Doom 1&2

For Quake 3 your right, just load it up and go to Internet game and then connect.

For PSO the servers are down so u either need a PAL game and download some game saves or out of pure simplicity just download the auto-connect disc http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4WEFWAZO U just click go online and then it will connect to DC-talk private server.

1. Can someone please send me the EXACT link to what I need to download to a disc? Because right now, you guys are giving me two different answers?

2. Exactly, how are these games able to still be played online? I thought Sega shutdown all the servers for all the games?

3. Is there anyway that we can add more games that could be added online? Or is it just too late? Because I would love to play nba2k2 and nfl 2k2 online.

ok most games servers are already shut down but a few still remain q3 basicly.

How this works exactly is somone gets a hold of server hosting software and through that they host a server like pso has server hosting software so somone hosts it on their computer or w/e what you first are going to download and burn using diskjuggler
Install DJ
Diskjuggler 4.6 with keygen (May not work with windows 7) http://www.mediafire.com/?swoxnzgzvdn

Next you will download and burn
XDP Webbrowser CDI Image
http://dreamcast-talk.com/uploads/pso/x ... dition.rar

Then you will put that into your dreamcast Select the normal version of xdp webbrowser and there should be a settings called options. in that there is a choice on the far right that says bba well keep selecting that. save then go to connect and then url put in google.com (you need the http:// in there) if you connect good if not pm me and i will give you step by step.
ok after that succesfully connects you
download and burn pso autoconnect disk
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4WEFWAZO
once you download and burn this (yes with diskjuggler) you just pop it in and it will allow you to play online using the dc-talk servers congrats :D

Alright. Do I need to burn an auto-connect for Quake 3 and the other games or is just for PSO?

I'm not a big RPG fan, I actually don't play any so I'll mostly just be on Q3 just running around killing people. I'll let you know if I have any problems.

For the DiscJuggler, when I want to burn the things to the CD-R, do I just go into DIscJuggler and just click "Open" and then after that just burn it?

What is the Gd-r? I'm srry your going to have to deal with me. I'm a complete noob when it comes to dreamcast. I never had the chance to have a dreamcast. I was stuck with a Playstation and completely hated the thing. But my cousin had one and I fell in love with it. So now I'm going back and trying to relieve my childhood I guess. So I have a questions?.

1. What are some good games to buy for the dreamcast? (I've heard Shenmue like a billion times, but what other games are good?) And I'm talking ALL genres too. I'm a big fan of sports, shooters, racing, action.

2. I've seen on Ebay that they have a LOT of japanese versions of dreamcast. Since they are NTSC-J or whatever. I'm guessing I can't play the American versions of the games on it. Right?
