DMZ issues with DreamPi

Post#1 » Sat Feb 22, 2020 4:18 am

Hello, I'm trying to set up my DreamPi and I have issues with games that require DMZ setting. I'm using Planet Ring for diagnostics purposes and even after making sure that DMZ is on for 192.168.31.98 and no other device in my network occupies that address I still have "this table is full" in Planet Ring. I'm sorry for bringing up this question again, but I have tried everything I could think of (even changing my router firmware) but to no avail.
I also looked at connection info on my router web interface while Planet Ring is connected and it lists:
udp 192.168.31.98:1025 146.185.135.179:7650
udp 192.168.31.98:1025 146.185.135.179:7653
tcp 192.168.31.98:1027 146.185.135.179:7641
udp 192.168.31.98:1025 146.185.135.179:7649

From what I see the ports of this connections are off... Could it be the problem?
I am using PAL Dreamcast, PAL image of Planet Ring through GDEMU, DELL usb modem with built in LVI, Raspberry Pi 4 with DreamPi v1.7 DLE and DreamPi v1.6 (both show same results). I have successfully connected and played PSO v2 and Quake 3 so it does seem to be DMZ specific problem. Any help on troubleshooting would be appreciated!

Hello Astraller!
The ports of Planet Ring are
UDP 7648 | UDP 1285 | UDP 1028
and should be open.

Here's a little tip!
After you saved the port forwarding settings make a reboot of your Router and pi.
(i had still issues after saving this settings, just a simple reboot was the
solution)

Do I have to set up both DMZ and port forwarding? I have tried DMZ on IP 192.168.31.98 plus forwarding ports like this:
PR1 146.185.135.179 7648 -> 192.168.31.98 7648 UDP
PR2 146.185.135.179 1285 -> 192.168.31.98 1285 UDP
PR3 146.185.135.179 1028 -> 192.168.31.98 1028 UDP
And the tables are still full =( Tried rebooting both pi and router multiple times

Are you sure thats the correct IP Address for your dreamcast?
If you have Quake 3 Arena you can verify your dreamcasts IP on the last step when its connected to the internet the IP will display.

I have checked my DC ip with Q3 and it is 192.168.31.98 alright. I have heard that gray ip from ISP may cause this (WAN IP in router settings is different from one stated at myip.com)

supported only white IP

you need to purchase a "static IP" service from your provider or buy and configure a VPN

Well I have tried switching to white ip (WAN ip is same as myip.com now) with my ISP switching me to pptp (if it somehow matters) But now i get error "There is no response from the login server" in Planet Ring and "No response from master server" in Q3 server list. I tried taking a look at tail -f /var/log/syslog and it seems that it hangs at lines:
dreampi dnsmasq: query[A] master.id-q3a.games.sega.net from 192.168.31.98
dreampi dnsmasq: forwarded master.id-q3a.games.sega.net to 46.101.91.123
Those two lines repeat several times times and then LCP is terminated by peer. It seems to be a problem with DNS, right?
