Btw did a nice find just know.. I was researching VMU key files...
Source :https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.games.video.sega/1NhkQS7YQbY

Well, I had to do some VMU file re-arranging today, and that included
deleting my Daytona Battle Key. Well, after re-downloading a new key, I
noticed that my old character name, GoodCow, was "already registered." =(
So, I guess I just learnt that the server attaches user names, directly to
the key file ID number, which by the way, is generated on the fly by the
server. I had thought that it tied user names to the "Sega.com user name"
which was just in the battle key. But, I guess it doesn't work that way.
Maybe the wins and losses are stored in the battle key file as well? So, a
word of "warning" is that if you ever delete your Daytona battle key, your
user names are gone. When you download a new key, since it'll have a new
"key ID" (currently at 20,465), it won't have your old user name data in it.

Only 20,465 people have downloaded keys. That's pretty sad. Also, the server
deletes old keys I believe every Saturday.:

http://daytona.web.dreamcast.com/key/vm ... a/crontest
# cron daytona [1 record]
# server name : daytona.web.dreamcast.com
# for remove VMS and VMI files
# Sunday - Saturday, 00:37, EXECUTION FILE:removevm.sh
37 00 * * * /home/daytona/site/htdocs/key/vm_data/data/removevm.sh >>
/home/daytona/site/htdocs/key/vm_data/data/cron_removevm.log

Anything important in this post? Not really. But if anybody makes some
extremely comprehensive Dreamcast and/or Dreamcast online FAQ, this would
make for a nice tid-bit in the Daytona section.

*GoodCow who has saved his new generated on-the-fly battle key to his HD as
well for the future, in case I ever need to delete the key again*

I quickly turned my steering wheel all the way to the right, hit the brakes, and I drifted around Mr. Bob Dobbs comment! Missing the grass by a few meters. Then I realised, the Super Pywackett Barchetta, is a really nice car. And was glad that I was able to drive it. :D

CGR! Nice. That is my favourite game review show. :D
The car in the vid, is the normal Pywackett Barchetta. That one is kinda slow.
The super version is the faster one, and is unlocked by driving in the opposite direction.

That review was nice. I wish they made more episodes. :D

Hello,
20 years that I am waiting to play this wonderfull game online, sadly in France we didn't have the online mode back then. I played a lot online on the 360 version, Daytona is a very fun game to play with friends, I am sure the Dreamcast version will be too with even more content. Some people dislike the 3 exclusive circuits that are blands for them but I think they were made for online, they are fast and you have to use the slipstream of other cars. Rin Rin Rink and Mermaid Lake have few turns but they are difficult to master.

I have played countless hours of this version, unlocked everything. I find some things a bit strange and I think they released the game a bit in a hurry for christmas in Japan. No endurance mode like in Daytona 1 and Daytona 2, why keeping the pit stop if your wheels don't wear out ? I can understand for the old circuits that had them but why bother for the exclusive ? In two players mode (local, maybe in online you can) the pit are closed, you can't drive there. It is a bit sad, endurance mode change a bit the way to play the game because you have to spare your wheels and you have to put some strategy to win. Another strange thing is rule of the ninth car that you unlock by beating the records on the 8 tracks of the game, so why ninth ? On Mermaid Lake they put some barriers to block a road on the circuit. They could have done a new shorter circuit just by removing those barriers.
