Great work, man!

FYI Paint.net is not a site but an open source Photoshop alternative :)

"IT'S NOT ABOUT HOW FAST YOU DRIVE" logo : https://web.archive.org/web/20011128211 ... st_001.gif

You can find a lot of the original "buttons options" by visiting https://web.archive.org/web/*/metropolis.dream-key.com/* and then typing GIF in filter results.

Thanks for that RJAY63. I thought I trawled through Wayback Machine, certainly downloaded everything it offered me, which is why I remade several of the buttons that were missing. It's added a few since I last visited, either that or the link I used blocked off some of the buttons.

Thanks for that. I've downloaded everything on that link, so I should now have everything it has to offer.

Okay so I pulled across the homepage images found on RJAY63's link of Wayback Machine.

msr_001--2.jpg
It's obvious that the "Welcome to Metropolis Street Racer Gomepage." text is also an image, but Wayback Machine didn't have it, so I'll have to rebuild it. And the CHAT menu icon. That being said, this page is nearly complete.

All I have to figure out is the top banneer (With the MSR logo). It was never natively in the code for each webpage, and as each page was saved as .php on the server, I can only assume this was a frame of some kind added to each page - however I'm not sure which type. If I get it wrong, it may not operate on the Dreamcast. It'd also be helpful to know what may be on the left side of the banner, however it's completely concealed in this shot. In the other shot we see small watch and Kudos logos, however I think these were links to switch between leaderboards, and not a general part of the banner design.

In short, rebuilt homepage is 95% complete, with just the Welcome image, Chat image and banner to be applied. Existing pages from Wayback machine have also been salvaged and rebuilt fully, with links operating where pages have been recovered.

Then it'll be on to rebuilding the missing pages. Any information you can find or share about these pages and how they worked would be great. Chat and Message Board are of particular interest, as I'm not sure how they would have operated.

Wow nice find on that missing artwork piece! Great idea remaking the missing pages with new artwork. It is the best that can be done with the resources you have.

Both the CHAT and MESSAGE BOARD option would have taken the user to Dreamarena where they would have to login (to their account) to go any further. Pointless now, but here is the actual Dreamarena URL that was used (completely dead of course): **http://boards.dream-key.com/cgi-bin/Web ... [email protected]**

Well, the front page is now virtually complete. I will get around to remaking the "Welcome to Metropolis Street Racer" yellow text as an image, but I'm happy enough to leave it as text for now and come back to it while I rebuild the other pages.

My next step, then, is recreating this page;
OnlineRankings-remake.jpg
Anyone have any idea what the top-left icon might be? We have a speedometer (Speed Challenge?) and Kudos logo (Kudos Challenge). My guess is it's the Time Trials logo. I could recreate the menu clocks (for San Francisco, London and Tokyo) as a representative of a stopwatch? Shooting in the dark a little.

This is the work so far on reviving the Leaderboards. None of it is using any functional database yet, so take the information in here as placeholders for now. Let me know what you guys think :)

Looking good! Nice work..

The "Win A Car" picture was probably an animated link that said "Win Your Dream Car On Dreamarena". That was a competition they had when the game was launched.

Those magazine screenshots were taken at a time when not all options were working. The Speed Challenge option was open soon after launch but the Kudos Ranking didn't appear for another two months. Here's a post from 2001 from the old Usenet archive on Google Groups: https://bit.ly/2rqmHlz

I think the World Time Trials was eventually opened but I'm still not sure the New Time Trial board was ever finished. By this time, people had figured out how to hack the VMU and change their scores/times to whatever they liked. Another Usenet post from the same time period: https://bit.ly/2wg03B8
