Parts of the world where Dreamcast hardware was manufactured

Post by CD AGES »

From my experience collecting heafty amounts of Dreamcast systems, it appears that the majority of the early hardware (Rev 0 units/Metal cooling fan) and early dated Rev 1's were manufactured in Japan. Perhaps as a means to reduce cost on hardware by various means, Sega would eventually outsource the systems manufacturing to other parts of Asia, particularly China with later Dreamcast units. My question is... In what other parts of the globe was the console manufactured during its life? Can everyone here check their unit(s) and report back along side a manufacture date (this info can be found underneath the system). My only factory sealed Dreamcast appears to have been "Made in Indonesia".

Thanks everyone.

my current 3 are

Rev 1 - March 2000 Made in Japan
Rev 1 - October 1999 Made in Indonesia
Rev 1 - July 2000 Made in Indonesia (still sealed)

I don't recall what my launch day system was, it gave up the ghost almost a decade ago now after a long bout with "got hit by lightning through the modem" disease. I wish I would have just kept it anyway but it got trashed long ago. :(

Chances are good. Oddly there are no links in their posts, signatures, or profiles but their posts are obviously nonsensical. I just deleted them and banned the posters.
