Future Petitions / Port Requests to Developers

"You can't win if you don't try"

... And so, even if there won't be Girl Fight on DC, that doesn't mean we shouldn't try, try again. Please post ideas in this thread for potential games we could rally around. Or to discuss the idea of doing so: the pros and cons, etc.

One I was reading about is Chaos Code. It's a 2D fighter developed by a very small Taiwanese company, published by Arc System Works, made for Sega Ringwide, and ported to PS3. There are some screens and articles about it here: http://andriasang.com/objk09/chaos_code/

Anyone else see the potential here?

I think petition for new Rush Rush Rally Racing (like Wiiware) can work if we have a lot of signs.

Oolite is a game that is just waiting to be ported. It's based on the classic space trading game Elite. There is a thriving community and I've been told the DC has the necessary specs for the game. Check out the website:

Here's the source code:

I'd really love to see Super Laser Racer. It's a top down racer similar to RRRR but with weapons, an awesome soundtrack and some truly amazing tracks.

Warhammer Kill Team is a dlc game for ps3/360. The environments are not too big, the textures are not all that flashy (except maybe a few single items), it is (currently) a 2 player coop game, but has 4 characters to choose from (easily can be made 4 player, the screen zooms like gauntlet), and its fairly short but has replay value.

I'm pretty sure that this could be put in to the dreamcast.

Nice find. Another 2D fighter on Ringedge hardware. These would be much less technically challenging to port to DC. 720p > 480p. Done.

I'm wondering why everyone always wants to port stuff?? I mean (and correct me if I'm wrong here) isn't it easier to make a new game from scrap (doesn't porting involve heavy modding of the original code & so??) & for a change?? if I want to play a game that isn't on my console I'll try to play it somewhere else....

It really depends from what i understand. If its a small open source game written in sdl it could be ported with some/minimal effort. But stuff like people are requesting here like an open source open gl game might require extensive tinkering make it run at a acceptable performance as the dreamcast open gl might not be standard and dreamcast specific code might be required or maybe the very small amount of ram might be a problem.Or xbox 360/ps3 games where the game the game would most likely be re-written from scratch then the assets completely remade makes it seem unrealistic to port really.
