Which camera to make Dreamcast videos?

hey guys
i would like to start some tries in the retrogame videomaking, also with the Dreamcast of course;
i see there are some amatorial but also semi-professional videomakers here around, when instead i'm completely noob in matter :)
of course, the first thing i need is a decent digital camera, and i would ask you what minimun config should have that device, considering that should be able to possibly film also a crt tv, so to avoid the flickering effect?

or you think is better to leave alone crt's, and consider only lcd's etc?

too much camera choices around, what do you recommend specific for retrogaming?

any other hint/advice around this matter, would be truly appreciated thanks :)

depends on how old school you are

hell, I even film my gameplay with my phone, the trick is simply to adjust it to 50 or 60hz, depending on what crt you use, and you don't even get any flicker or roll on your vid LoL

when recording from a crt, it doesn't need to be HD perfect imho, it's a crt, it needs to look old LoL; as long as the image quality it good enough...it's all part of the old school charm ;)

I use direct capture vga if you dont capture and upload at a size on youtube it defaults to 30fps which causes glitches and frameskip like motion so nothing on youtube at 640x480 can be 60fps it does not allow it..

why i capture direct vga and at 720p so it can be uploaded and still be 60fps..

If you want to show it on youtube it must be 720p size or you get 30fps pretty much is bloody wrong.. Gets on my last bone seeing captures of cdrt then uploaded on youtube and it's running half speed

Thank you for the entries, all the possible alternatives are well accepted
if this can become a noob tutorial it would be great too
yes, i can do some tries with my phone too, maybe adding some little easel to help

recently, i have talked with some friends, that warned me about some cameras that cannot film tv's devices, having a sort of mirroring effect; is it true? and how i can recognize that models from the good ones?

what exactly you need to do a vga capture Ian? i presume a good VGA cable for the DC, then connected to PC, and a software to capture? or some extra devices too?

watching a couple of tube tutorials atm,
i have found this very good one video, imo this guy explains very honestly a couple of issues that you'll probably hit the head on, using cameras and crt :)
