Yes 48khz is not supported by the ACIA on dreamcast

If it did not make it crash it be slower and out of sync

Most digital audio has a sampling rate of 44.1kHz, which is also the sampling rate for audio CDs. This means that the audio is sampled 44,100 times per second during recording. When the audio is played, the hardware then reconstructs the sound 44,100 times per second.

Most retail games used 32khz mono

If it works they did some magic with down sampling with the codec so it would put extra work downsampling on the fly to 44khz

so if we figure out max settings for audio and video working on real hardware..
we could splt a movie into 4- 4xm's for 4- seperate selfboot .cdi's for 80min cd'rs.
full dvd movie - dvd quality on the dc.
that would kick ass.

we could run 4 instances of 4xm comp.
and should complete the encoding in 30 hours total
ya its a longshot, but it might be possible.

I think tv shows would work best would not need as many cdrs for say esp Cartoons in HQ etc But if you want the best a dreamcast can do you have to do work and swapping cd's would be one of them just like super vcd was many disks or even laser disk was many a movie depending
