Notes on Bleem! for PC Protection? to block the use of debugger ?

This trick is similar to int41h / 4fh Debugger installation check (code 05
& 06) but very limited because it's only available for Win95 / 98 (not NT)
as it uses the VxDCall backdoor. This detection was found in Bleem Demo.

Push 0000004fh; function
4fh push 002a002ah; high word specifies which VxD (VWIN32)
; low word specifies which service
(VWIN32_Int41Dispatch)
call Kernel32! ORD_001; VxdCall
cmp ax, 0f386h; magic number returned by system debuggers
jz SoftICE_detected

Here again, several ways to detect it:

BPINT 41 if ax == 4f

BPINT 30 if ax == 0xF386; SoftICE must be loaded for this one

BPX Exec_PM_Int if eax == 41 && edx-> 1c == 4f && edx-> 10 == 002A002A

BPX Kernel32! Ord_0001 if esp-> 4 == 002A002A && esp-> 8 == 4f; slooooow!

Code: Select all

This is the BLUE version.
In case you're wondering about the other 4 versions/colors of bleemcast,
the person who cracked this found that they are all identical.

Code: Select all

Props to the folks that made this happen!

Randy Davis?

Full "updated" .nfo:

(source: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12161&start=140#p125194 )

Code: Select all

Bleem!Cast Leaked Beta - Cracked!
Hopefully, this should help you with burning troubles!

Q: Does this thing actually work???
A: YES!!!!!!!!

Q: How do I burn it, I keep getting coasters!
A: -Burn the .cdi with Alcohol 120% or Discjuggler in Raw Disc-at-Once mode!
   -Burn the .nrg with Nero in Disc-at-Once mode!
   -If your burner doesn't support Disc-at-Once, you can try to self-boot it
    yourself just like any emulator, or homebrew game.
    (plain files untested, however, that's how I re-packed the image)

Q: Does this selfboot?
A: Yes, it's self booting!

Q: Can I play my playstation backups/imports on this?
A: Yes!

Q: How is the quality?
A: It doesnt work with all games, some games have graphical errors, some
   games just won't load, some games lock up, etc...The movies on all games
   are unwatchable, There's NO save support. Some games are unplayable because       R2/L2/Select/Analog1+2 are non-existant! Framerate is VERY good, music can
   be choppy at times.  Don't forget, this is a leaked beta, never meant to
   play all these games, that's why they released single game packs! Be happy
   you can play some of these wonderful games on our beloved Dreamcast!!!
   Oh, yeah, the Screen Blinks like crazy, but it works.

his first game 1983 the c64 lol

Our next game is slightly obscure, and was briefly advertised by US magazines in 1983. Thanks to Peter Weighill for the heads up.

The game was called Bubbles, and has you controlling Clarence the Clam, who must avoid and destroy menacing creatures of the deep. It was a clone of Centipede, and according to the coder Randy Linden – it was released. Some shops in Torono were selling it, but it is unknown if it ever made it to the US.

It is possible that Syntax didn’t last long, and Bubbles only made it out in limited numbers. Also in their line up was a utility called Scribbler, which also seems to be missing. EDIT – Marco van Vlaanderen has found Scribbler on an old tape. We don’t usually host utilities that are missing, but have added to this entry as a curiosity and to ensure its preserved and available for others. Confirms it was released too

Do you know anything more about the Bubbles game though, and can you help us preserve it?

Contributions: Peter Weighill, Randy Linden, Marco van Vlaanderen

I’m the author of Bubbles and it’s SO nice to see that anyone remembers the game!
