best edition of street fighter on dc?

was wondering what the best version of street fighter is since there's 3 or 4 different versions on dreamcast, do any of them have anything more than just arcade mode? what's the difference between street fighter 3 and street fighter alpha?

Alpha is a completely different series with less advanced graphic, meaning that sf3 is the third chapter, sf alpha 3 is the third chapter in the alpha series which is older than 3. I can't tell you which one is the best but i do actually have street fighter 3 W Impact and it's a real blast lo play

This really depends on your tastes. You have Super Street Fighter 2 X, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and the Street Fighter 3 games on the system. They all play differently and have different characters and movesets you'll either love or hate. Might be best to take a look at some YouTube videos of each one in action to better gauge which ones would be more appealing to you.

@Dr. TEAMCAST
Tough question to answer.
Go with the Street Fighter that you would like, and go with the one, that is more fun for you. :D

Super Street Fighter 2 X- One of the 5 billion different ports of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. It's a good version of one of the oldest Street Fighter games, but due to its very high price and being Japan only, it's really only for hardcore collectors.

Street Fighter Alpha 3- One of the most complete games in the series, it has tons of game modes, one of the biggest character rosters, and very fun gameplay that's similar to old school Street Fighter but still feels new and fresh at the same time.

Street Fighter Double Impact- A vastly different game from all the previous entries, it has an almost completely new roster with very few returning old characters. Gameplay is very smooth and the graphics and animation are amazing, but overall you're better off instead getting...

Street Fighter Third Strike- A direct sequel to Double Impact, featuring more characters and more refined gameplay. An all time favorite among hardcore fighting game fans due to its very deep gameplay. Has been played in tournaments for many years.

All 4 are good games, but overall, if you're a more casual fan of fighting games or you're looking for one with a lot of game modes, get Alpha 3. If you're a hardcore fighting game fan looking for a super deep competitive fighting game, get Third Strike.

That's probably the best explanation I've seen. An annoying problem with the SF series is that each game was re-released so many times it's impossible to know which game is which and what the pros and cons of each game are without a spreadsheet. u.u

Yeah, there's so many different Street Fighter games, and when they wanted to add a few minor features they'd just make an entire new game. Here's a rough list of the only ones you should care about:

Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Street Fighter Alpha 2
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike
Ultra Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter 5

Any other Street Fighter games can probably be safely skipped unless you're a hardcore fan of the series. Not that they're bad, but they're made obsolete by one of the games on that list.

In the Alpha/Zero series, 2 is my favorite, which wasn't released on DC. Since you asked about DC, 3 is good, so if you've never played that series, might as well go with that.

As for SF3 Double Impact vs Third Strike, I prefer Third Strike, partially because it's the only iteration of SF3 to have Chun Li. These are just my opinions, so beyond that, just try what you have access to; you'll probably enjoy regardless.
