Hi, i'm aware that the FAQ says "UNLOCKED Cisco / Linksys SPA1001 FXS VoIP Phone Adapter (Try to find one that comes with a power adapter) - Other VOIP adapters may work but they have not been tested yet. As more are tested in the future I'll continue to add to a list of confirmed working VOIP adapters" and although it's true I didn't yet go through the 43 pages to verify there were no other tested good modems listed I thought it might be a good reason to mod the original post if there ARE other tested good modems.

If there are not...

I've found it's very very difficult to even find a Linksys SPA1001 modem anymore. MOST ARE COUNTERFEITS FROM CHINA. Including apparently "Everything on ebay" according to a site I saw when first researching this who documented differences (tho it's been awhile since I asked, and the original site showing some of the differences doesn't seem to be online anymore or/and I can't find it now)... so that made me wonder are "chinese clone" modems just as good as the real thing? Or does one need to find an original modem only? (if so does anyone have a guide for how to tell the differences between that and the apparently massively common chinese knockoffs of low quality since I was told this by a few sources, but did not have the information to personally verify this)

Alternately could anyone start compiling up a list of alternative candidates, or even "known doesn't work" or something if it really is something picky? I'd love to start playing Saturn games online with ppl I just... need a VOIP modem that sounds very difficult to find in authentic form. :-/

If the seller is from USA its a pretty good sign its a legit non clone, and I've bought 3 of them on ebay. I'm 90% sure a Spa112 will work, it has the same configuration options as spa1001 but the modern version (Maybe even a little faster) I have not had a chance to test one myself.
