After the Atari VCS was announced/shown, i was holding my breath that Sega would wake up fron their stupor and get their act together. This toaster definitely brings me back to reality.

I would buy the Sonic toaster if I had $35 to spare.

I'm sure Atari will be thrilled with your reaction, but I can assure you that within the games industry it's hard to find anyone who doesn't regard the VCS with a very high level of skepticism. I'm sure that includes SEGA.

VCS is an empty box
"New VCS game" doesn't exist for VCS
Tempest 4000 developer talks about it not existing for VCS

I sure hope you didn't throw any money at them.

Some people might find this comment rude, but I see this as a case of "some fans buy absolutely anything that has the logo of their favorite character/franchise/company on it". It doesn't have to be a product anyone really asked for, it doesn't have to make sense, it doesn't have to be useful or practical. It doesn't even have to function well.

1) Hundreds of fans kept asking for a Sonic toaster in the live text chat during SEGA's biweekly live video streams.

2) A toaster is useful.

3) A toaster is practical.

4) Watching it in action again and again during E3, I guarantee that this toaster functions quite well... though you might not have meant this toaster in particular with your comments, and instead you were just making a sweeping generalization about merchandising in a capitalist society.
