I’m sure I noticed a very unconvincing video showing the game running on a dreamcast via a dreamcast emulator recently (using some sort or retro emulator)

Someone made a Sega Saturn-style Sonic Mania commercial:

There's lots of these on YouTube, even one with Segata Sanshiro:

Oh, and this is the Dreamcast Mania video you were talking about, DreamcastUK:

The sad part is people actually believe it's running on a Dreamcast. He obviously just installed MainMemory's Mod Loader and recorded PC footage with Bandicam.

I officially love the idea of Segata Sanshiro surviving a bomb explosion in space and taking a meteor to get back to Earth and make people play the Sega Saturn 17 years later.

Yeah that was the one, it is laughable how people think it’s running on Dreamcast Hardware, however the person who uploaded it mentioned he will be uploading a video with the Dreamcast in shot and using the controller / Hardware, will prob end up being a Pi with a usb Dreamcast Controller

True. I'll wait for him to upload footage of it from a "console" before judging any further.

Btw, I'm making a review for the PS4 version of Mania. I know it's quite late, but I've wanted to do this anyways. Should be up pretty soon. :)

Hardly. Developers no longer bother much with memory efficiency, because modern consoles and PC games have tons of memory that allow for sloppy development. The DC has very limited memory, so Mania would surely have to be crunched a bit to work under such limited constraints. The DC is so short on memory that many games use sequenced sound effects to save space, for instance.

We'll never see a new official Sega game ported to the Dreamcast. Still not happy Shenmue 3 is never gonna be on a Dreamcast..traitor! He could have done it being Sony is not footing the bill, the fans who poured in $$$ is paying for it. Oh well, that is the way the byte bounces...
