I see we are gonna be great friends already haha. Nice man!

Yeah, my thing I ALWAYS wanted to do in the DC community is make HLDC mods. I just am already deeply invested into other projects on PC, such as remaking Battlefield 1042 in Battlefield 2 in HD. You can see our project here. Still a ways to go with polishing a ton.

https://www.moddb.com/mods/battlefield-1944

But after I had that stuff out of the way and taken care of, I feel I need to get into making Half-Life mods. What I want to do there, at least my idea was to make 2 good mods. One was pretty simple, taking the assets from Day of Defeat and creating a WW2 shooter for the DC. That was one genre really that exploded into popularity a bit after the DC's time. So it could use some for sure.

The next would be making a Halo mod for HLDC and using some already ported assets from Halo CE to HL. Might work ok not sure how much it will affect performance, the Goldeneye 007 mod for HLDC had characters with 8000 polygons, so pretty high poly.

But I am going to need a partner to go into modding HLDC with. Perhaps this might also be of interest for you? I mean HLDC is already pretty popular as it has well over a dozen mods and total conversions as stand alone games on DC. Plus we can easily find enough assets to make pretty much any kind of mods we would like.

Oooh also very cool stuff to! It reminds me that time they contacted me to make a game...
Just because I made a Skin/Mod for Quake 3.
Image
https://www.fileplanet.com/archive/p-35734/Darth-Maul
Now I think about it lets mod it in Quake 3 for DC. :P

My biggest mod is translation of Half life 2 Survivor in to english..

Btw gonna release that in to the wild soon. As I make a custom install pack.
Guess the 5000 views I requested for my video was a bit to much to ask haha...
It's not done, because when I found out that If I installed the Japanese language pack for windows it would
show me a lot more to translate. Also got in to hacking the DLL files etc to change settings etc.
Write custom apps/loaders to make it more arcade like using RFID etc.

But Time got the hold of me and I abandon the project.
And I am not that a good of a programmer, like I said I am Designer form education but got passion for modding/hacking
Changing creating,,,, so now I work for apple store as unix/apple engineer.

So I like to combine the two...

For sure I am interested I have a PC ready running DC devkit and other tools to make selfboots.
Not the HL SDK but can find that quick and need to look up the level creator and what wad extractor to use again.

Got some HL mods experience from back in the day, (this was a logic evolution after Duke 3d mods)
And remember now a few years back I researched the DC version
because it was hinted about the multiplay code so I looked in the files if there was any:

HI TerdFerguson,

Last month I was working/changing :) the dll file of Half life 2 Survivor.(pc version)
Replaced al the ip´s to my own network, the purpose is to make a app to host easy multi player games. Concept is working :)

Back to DC
Its been awhile since i booted my DC (shame shame :) )
I don´t know if there is a option to select multi player in DC half life :)
After looking at youtube i know there is no option:

But in the HALFLIFE_DC.EXE file you can find this:

exec config.cfg
exec preset_a.cfg
/CD-ROM/valve/halflife.cfg exec halflife.cfg
But in the folder there is no halflife.cfg or config.cfg, preset_a.cfg. its in the PAK0.PAK (of course... )

After looking a bit more in to the .EXE I found that there are commands for multiplayer in the exe.

cd stop
Host_Error: recursively entered Host_Error: %s
Host_Error: %s
-maxplayers clients deathmatch deathmatch setinfo "%s" "%s"
skipping config.cfg output, no keys bound
w halflife.cfg Couldn't write config.cfg.
unbindall
+mlook
+jlook
halflife.cfg Dropped %s (spectator) from server
Dropped %s from server
Server shutdown.
%c
D:\proj\halflifedc\src\engine\host.c Error allocating %i bytes for master address. %i Usage:
Setmaster <add | remove | enable | disable> <IP:port>

To me it looks like everything that is need to host a server is in the exe...
Just away to launch binding a command in the config file?
bring up console using DC keyboard.. but if the lan or dial up modem is not ported in code it will not work..

Just did a deal today for a dreamcast with 8 games 2 controllers for 85€
To burn coasters or not that is the question :)

Check quick because of AG (posted here for preservation hahaha)

And looking back I see you posted a Image of HL dc supporting mods:
Image

So yes I am up for it

Awesome! Yeah HLDC is one of the greatest things to ever happen for the DC community, simply because it makes creating retail looking homebrew stuff possible thankfully. I know that there was some Halo themed multiplayer mod for HL1 on PC, but not sure what all assets were in it.

https://www.gamewatcher.com/mods/half-l ... -half-life

There is one of the only remaining uploads of the mod for Halo in Half-Life. It seems it is a multiplayer only mod. I have never modded HL at all, so I have no idea how you can take a look and see what assets are included in this. If the weapons and characters are already ported over to it, that would be pretty great. We at least need some enemies ported over from the covenant if they are not included. I have no idea how to port and rig character models from Halo CE.

HL looks very close to Quake 3 from models and animation.
And port and rig character models from Halo CE would probably be done in 3d max using some good import plugins for each games.

Weapons models for HL found but link is bad.
can't download 20110930halomod_setup.exe is deleted.
But for a strange reason I can remember that there was a dreamcast version of hl2 halo mod... or is that a Quake mod...
Or is that themandela effect kicking in
I shall extract HL GDI first and see how it works been some time..

Ok here are some good resources:

Well, I think it is a good idea for me to make a new topic so we don't derail this one any more than we already have lol.

It's sad that the Tosec and TruRip links are still down.
I hope they work again soon. Because those two links, had some cool rare games, that I never heard of too.

Hey, add this link to the official list please Xiden? This is a new one I think many of us must have missed previously! I see some lost Bleemed games in there too so more stuff that is hard too find for sure! But this is a general spreadsheet with tons of games!

deluxux was actually the one who made this spreadsheet, so I take NO credit for this! Only wanting to make it more visible!
