Vanishing Point

Any opinion on this one?

might be the most misunderstood and perhaps most underrated race game on the dreamcast. the thing is you need to unlock basically everything. the game starts of as a bare bones generic arcade racer but after unlocking different tracks, tuning options and more the game turns into a full blown simulation game with very good gameplay. reminds me a bit of need for speed 2.

I liked it and played it a few years ago but as a game general it looks a port of PS1 in my eyes. I hope soon Shu makes a miracle again and open online mode again :D

I had this game briefly last year, and couldn't stand the controls (or lack of controlling). I promptly sold it. Plus, there aren't that many fun vehicles to drive. Not compared to other DC racers.

I love Vanishing Point! Yes the controls take a lot of getting used to but the game looks amazing and I love the tracks.

again the beginning of the game looks like shit but it gets better when you progress with the levels and sunset levels

I absolutely loved Vanishing Point although I understand all the reasons people don't. For me the rock solid frame rate and visuals and progression structure were spot on. The controls take a while to get used to but you do get used to them and the super sensitive twitchy controls allow you to weave between traffic and get in the zone. A true arcade racer and one of my favourite games on the system.
