Fyi this happened to me too for a week or so I just changed my dns to see the board again. I recently ttied my original dns again and its now working. I think it had to do with the host blocking a range of dns and not just limited to one person

I tried the Comcast DNS server and public Google DNS server. I still encounter the same problem. The dreamcast-talk.com domain is able to resolve and I can get the associated IP address but I get ERR_CONNECTION_RESET when I try to access the site.

I tried 8.8.8.8 as my primary dns server. It didn't make a difference. What I don't get is that I had been able to connect to dc-talk with this Netgear router in the past. I didn't change anything but it just stopped working sometime last month. I tried to install the latest firmware for my router to see if that would make a difference but that didn't help.

I highly doubt anyone would be banned without any sort of warning or communication. I think there's been some overreaction here.

DR TEAMCAST wrote:I wasn't able to connect to dc-talk for about two weeks. Which was strange. I assumed I was IP banned for some reason, I just installed a VPN and I was able to connect. So I was indeed IP banned from the server (rather than PHPBB IP ban)

I'm not going to make an internet drama thread. But I don't take disrespect lightly, and a reason-less stealth IP ban is very disrespectful

So I will not be returning to these boards. If anyone wants to contact me, you can go to my boards at http://bb.dreampipe.net. You can also find me in the Dreamcast online Skype group ( https://join.skype.com/gBcsLnFdjIBn ). When ASSEMblergames.com is back up, I'll be on there too

I hope to see a lot of you check in on BB occasionally

There will be a large Sonic Adventure event going up Friday for the duration of Spring. And a Dreampipe exclusive VMU game might be on the way very soon

It's been a fun two year stay here. But it seems my presence is not welcome

Pce everyone,
-Dan

(I will not be able to see any replies because I'm uninstalling this VPN after I post this)

Well, I can certainly say that nobody here banned you. Did phpbb show a message saying that you were banned? I haven't banned anyone in years.

ERR_CONNECTION_RESET I believe is a database error. It's not a ban message. Unless someone at my host level is banning people which I doubt. phpbb will spit out a specific message saying you're banned if that was the case.

The only explanation for these errors is the is that my spotty web host is to blame. It's possible that they blocked a large chunk of IP's for suspected spam and it hit innocent users. It's hard to say what they do behind the scenes. And one of these days when I have a large chunk of free time we'll be transferring the entire website to the same server that hosts the game servers.

Sorry for the issue and if this is still happening to anyone they can personally reach out to me and I'll look into it.

EDIT: I just double checked. There are no IP bans at the server level either. I've never implemented that sort of ban.

I am back online. I ended up having to spoof a different MAC address for my router in order to get a new IP address in a different range; DHCP release and renew did not cut it. I will have to check if I can get back onto the PSO Vega server in a bit. This outage made me stop playing PSO entirely. Hopefully other people that are having problems can find a workaround that works on their end.

Edit: I can access the PSO Vega server again.

Glad to hear you're back online Ryochan. The fact that you couldn't access the website or pso is bizarre because they are hosted at different servers. And bkuecrabs server hosts the main login server for pso.

But regarding the website issue, I'm waiting to hear back if my web host about mass banning IP's.

I talked to impulse around the time of his previous message

When I tried to connect for like a month it would say ERR_CONNECTION_RESET, after the month i tried Opera on a Windows NT VM which it said the server refused the connection. So I masked my IP with a VPN and I was able to access the site. So the only logical conclusion at the time was that my IP was banned from the Apache server. I figured that was more likely than the site host blocking entire IP ranges

That being said I didn't look at the replies because since it was a host issue, this whole thread is cringe

I'm kinda taking a break from being hardcore active in the scene though. I think I was so active that maybe it started taking away from the community or the experience of others in a way. I'm still in the Skype and I check in here every two weeks or so, but I'm not going to be so involved other than on dreampipe stuff for a while unless another game is revived
