Cleaning A Sega Saturn?

Just got my Sega Saturn in the mail today. It seems to be working but the outside is very dirty and also a little sticky. So what do you guys recommend for cleaning the outside of the system? Also for the inside do you recommend just blowing canned air in there? I also heard that doing that will get rid of the gear oil? Is that true?

Congrats on the Saturn!

I use damp paper towels to clean most of my systems. Some liberal rubbing should get most of the grime off. If that isn't working you can pull the entire thing apart and remove all metal components and toss the plastic shell in the dishwasher.

As far as canned air removing gear grease? That would have to be some pretty extreme air blasting. I cleaned out my US model 2 Saturn once a couple of years ago. I used compressed air on the board and around the lens assembly. Still works fine today... no excessive grinding. *shrug*

I always use turpentine/varsol for really disgusting plastics. It's tough and fumy, and likely to get through nasty messes.
