Saturn trouble

I have a gray and blue HST-3200. I recently bought Thunder Force Gold Pack 2, but my Saturn won't play it. It's as if there is no disc in the drive, even though it is in there. I'm wondering if I need to upgrade to a better model or something.

What do you guys think?

Can you play other games or audio CD's? Is it a japanese Saturn model (region code)? Have you tried to clean the lens CAREFULLY?

Thunder Force doesn't need a Mem Card, afaik.

Near mint...which is why I'm thinking I may need to upgrade to a later model Saturn. Or maybe I just need to clean the lens a bit. I don't know.

Could just be a poorly pressed disc. That happens somtimes, in which case the only fix is a new copy. Just in case, try another Saturn, if you have access to one.

Could be. I remember having the same problem with Gekirindan, where the game disc was in mint condition but during gameplay it kept slowing down, skipping, missing sprites, no BGM...thing like that. I ended up trading it for another game.

But TFGP2 is one that I've been looking for at a decent price for a long now. And now that I have it, I can't even play it. I really don't wanna get rid of it. So I think I'll try upgrading soon.

Ever occur to you that maybe this is why you were able to get this copy "at a decent price"? Hopefully I'm wrong about that, but the thought has crossed my mind.
