"Handheld games with liquid crystal displays; Electronic and mechanical game equipment, namely home-use game machines; Handheld units for playing electronic games adapted for use with an external display screen or monitor; Toys, namely electronic toy robots, home-use games"
That description can also be found in the ORBI brand
"educational game machines for children; hand held electronic games, namely, handheld electronic games adapted for use with television receivers; handheld game apparatus with liquid crystal displays; electronic hand-held game units for use with an external display screen;"
This patent was issued by SEGA on September 11,2012:http://www.freepatentsonline.com/8264624.html

"Development of computer is early spring up from the mainframe, its evolutional period goes through personal computer (PC), notebook, personal digital assistant (PDA) and desknote. Recently, the computer industry has developed the era of Tablet PC is defined a PC between PDA and notebook. Tablet PC is presented to the public that means Tablet PC is the evolution of the laptop, that is, Tablet PC is similar to a portable PC with a handwriting recognition system. Tablet PC has various especially functions, such as (digital touch panel and digital pen) (saving files in time), that is different with operation function of past PC. Touch screen of a general Table PC can be turned up or down with 180 degree such that the original shape of the notebook product becomes to a portable handwriting liquid crystal panel for user required. Furthermore, in addition to Tablet PC with all of functions of PC, the best feature in Tablet PC is an electromagnetic-induction module thereof. User can perform the handwriting model with touch pen to input data. This operation will be more close to general function of writing and reading for human. User can input and operate on touch screen by only using touch pen. Accordingly, we can offer the best input model in different environments for user. Moreover, Table PC can offer more natural input method to the user that is not familiar with operation of PC by an interface of handwriting, so as to substitute for traditional input method used keyboard, and to reduce barrier of learning PC."
So I guess that means SEGA is combining a PDA,Laptop and Mobile device into a Tablet interface. Doesn't that plain english state: TABLET COMPUTER?

Now to explain what's going on with Sony.
In December of 1999, Sony filed the first trademark for "PS3". As early as 2001, game magazines and game sites were reporting that Sony was already
underway developing a "Playstation 3" which is proof that PS3 was in development for 7 years.http://www.trademarkia.com/ps3-77828097.html
Sony's core electronic brands have slumped for the past 5 years. Blu-Ray itself is too niche. Samsung,LG and Toshiba are offering better
quality products, the mobile market is growing at an alarming rate, and Sony is being left in the dust regarding cutting edge market innovation.
In is first 4 years alone, PS3 cost Sony $5 billion in losses, due to poor sales, poor demand and massive wholesale losses. PS3's development
was finalized in 2005, Sony choose a IBM Supercomputer and extremely complex Nvidia 2005 GPU for its silicon. The actual budget for PS3 is $10 billion
due to it being a "High End" multi entertainment project.
The B.O.M of PS3 during 2005-2006 were actually $800. Selling the console at $600 meant Sony was selling PS3 at a $100 loss. Add the poor sales of the
console resulting in a $2 billion dollar loss, the Operating Loss at $3 Billion equals $5 billion in 2007-2010.
But then there's the silicon itself. Because it was expensive, and scarce, Sony has lost $1 billion on "Budget Shortfalls" for PS3 hardware. Count 2006-2012 and that's an additional $6 billion in losses. Bringing the
the total losses of PS3 to $21 billion counting the $10 billion budget spent on its development from 1999-2005.
How does a Company's who net worth of $50 billion earn back $10 billion? By profiting strongly. But unfortunely , NONE of Sony's divisions are profiting and SCEI is just BARELY eeking in profit. Its going to take YEARS for them to earn that back.
Sony posted their first MASSIVE loss in 14 years in 2009.http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05/15/busin ... .html?_r=0
Things haven't gotten any better for them:http://ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1223379p1.htmlhttp://kotaku.com/5900564/sony-thinks-i ... more-moneyhttp://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=470940
So you see, Sony is really in GRAVE danger. When a company's Core brand is doing poorly, it drags down the entire company. This is what happened with SEGA back in the late 90s.
The Arcade Market imploded, so it took SEGA's revenue. If 3DS were to fail, it would destroy Nintendo.
