It's certainly a lot cheaper than any other method. All you need to do is buy an old Wii that can play GC games, softmod it, and install the Homebrew Channel as well as Devolution. You can use a standard USB keyboard to type, and you can create a virtual memory card on your SD card, which makes it a lot easier to make backups.

GC players are usually online on weeknights US time, which may or may not work for you...

This is the best part of GameCube PSO.

If I could use the keyboard part of this ridiculous thing on games other than GCPSO (and if I could even afford it - it's freaking expensive, man), I'd be happy.
Can play online, but doesn't very often.

No. The GameCube PSO was released several months after the Dreamcast was discontinued, and I think there might be some minor version differences, too, but don't quote me on that.

You can play with gamecube players if you enable it , but its a little buggy and will probably eventually freeze for one of you.

I had a pretty successful team with gamecube players once it worked great but the only thing that would freeze the gamecube player was when someone pressed a button for a laser fence it would freeze. Maybe these little bugs can be fixed =)

Hmm. That's to bad. I would love to have my fiancé play beside me. Might just have to get another dreamcast. Lol
