Frankly it needs to crash again. Far to many bad practices are now in place by the current big three that should never have been implemented.
GPS Tracking chips in Vita and encryption cracking software that allows it to access the internet, without your knowledge, anywhere that Wi-Fi is available. Xbox One requiring internet connection so it can effectively spy on you with it's camera and microphone. The 3DS using the updated StreetPass for tracking and reporting statistics about their owners. PS4, likely performing similar functions as the Xbox One when it's connected to the internet. Wii U extra/replacement controllers cost $200. The 3DS not allowing a non-updated system to StreetPass with an updated system, and vice-versa. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, blaarg!
Oh, and I haven't even ranted about the very existence of DLC yet. Nor about publishers shipping out games to retail that are still not fully out of Beta and then releasing patches weeks or months later that must be downloaded and installed to the console to "fix" the unexpected problem(s).
Yeah, and yet there are those who wonder why the enthusiasm for gaming has declined to a morbid near-death like state.
