Phantasy Star Online Worldwide Server Shutdown: 3/31/07

On March 31, 2007 the official Phantasy Star Online servers for all versions of PSO for Dreamcast and Gamecube will be shutdown. Dreamcast versions 1 and 2 and Gamecube Episode I and II, III CARD and Episode I and II plus.

News was posted on the official Japanese PSO webpage on December 8, 2006:

The server termination affects all regions of PSO for Dreamcast and Gamecube.

Versions that are unaffected and will continue Online operation, are Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst for PC, Phantasy Star Universe for PC, Xbox 360 and PS2 and Phantasy Star Online Episode I and II for Xbox.

This is sudden bad news, but there are and will be alternative methods of getting online with at least Dreamcast PSO. To learn more about current ways to get online visit here: http://schtserv.funurl.com Upcoming methods will be posted in the Online info section of this site.

We still have a good amount of time to play out the official servers - about 3 months. Make good use of the time, I know I will. You can find me online going by Shane - FOnewm and Shane - RAcaseal.

Rajirugi releases a few days early

Apparently Lik-Sang and Play Asia shipped out Rajirugi on February, 14 instead of the supposed release date of February, 16. Of course you had to have the game reserved for this to happen.

Currently the game is for sale at Play Asia and Lik-sang. Lik-Sang ships within 1 to 5 days and the game also qualifies for free shipping.

Ferrari F355 Challenge Now Offline

For most of you this is last months news by far. Ferrari F355 Challenge: Passione Rossa went offline on Janurary 16, 2006.

The reason may be becuase of technical issues. F355 Challenge uses a sub domain to operate. That sub domain may have been taken offline for one reason or another due to legal issues.

Many poeple have talked about a Petiton, which would be quite useless and would mostly be a waste of Sega's time to deal with putting F355 back online. Sega knows that people played the game and how much they liked it. The most feasible thing that could happen for us, is Sega releasing some information to the public. Even that is farfetched.

Of course F355 will live on in our memories as a great online game for Dreamcast and then some. Remember, you can still play multiplayer on one console, or Link battle with two DC's using the link cable.

New Helicopter Shoot Em Up: Under Defeat

Another shooter is coming for the new year. Under Defeat from G.Rev.

Under Defeat is a Helipcopter shooter that is sweeping across arcades in Japan. It is apparently so popular that it was deceided to be ported to Dreamcast.

The release date is said to be March. 23, 2006. Expect your favorite game importing stores to start taking pre-orders for Under Defeat.

New Shoot Em Up from MileStone: Rajirugi

From the creators of, Chaos Field comes a new Shoot Em Up titled, Rajirugi (aka Radilgy). Radilgy features cel-shaded graphics and several similar moves from, Chaos Field. Radilgy is derived from a NAOMI arcade game.

Expected release date is, February. 16, 2005. Radilgy is availible for pre-order through http://lik-sang.com and http://playasia.com. As usual, http://segagagadomain.com is doing pre-orders through Sega-Direct. The Sega-Direct package includes a Radilgy phone card and the game.

Phantasy Star Online 5th Anniversary

December 21, 2000, in Japan marks the day Phantasy Star Online (ver.1) was first debuted. 5 years later on December 21, 2005 the series is still going strong on it's parent console.

Sonic Team has launched an official site in celebration of the 5 year Phantasy Star Online Anniversary. http://pso5.jp/

The 5th Anniversary should bring new lobby decorations and quests to the more recent versions of PSO on other consoles. Dreamcast online portion of PSO is expected to get no quests or decorations from Sonic Team.

The best things the Anniversary gives us is more attention directed to the Dreamcast and the knowledge that PSO is still going strong on Dreamcast and will be for many years to come.
